Balinese & Siamese C.C. - 14 July 2007

Thanks to Sylvia and the show management team for the invitation to judge; a shame that thanks to a larger number of clashing shows the entries were down, but the quality was good. Thanks also to Bruce for making the long journey to steward for me, which he did with expertise.

Open Classes

Blue Point Siamese Adult

1+CC+BOB Lewindon's GLENTHORNE CHIKA F 14 Dec 05

A rather nervous girl of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch which she exacerbated by puffing out her whisker pads, top needs a little more width, large ears set in line. Almost straight profile, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set though inclined to open them rather wide when out of her pen, of a good depth of blue. Long lean body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of darkish blue , the tail a little darker still. Lightly shaded cool toned body, coat a little long but of good texture. Despite her nervousness, she handled well; excellent presentation.

Chocolate Point Balinese Kitten

1 (BOB N/A) White's JAYMAX DEEPLEY DIPPY (61b) M 5 Feb 07

A kitten of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge a little broad in the muzzle, needing more width at the top, large ears set a little high. Dip in profile beneath the brow, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set of a distinctly pale shade of blue. Medium length firm body, legs with large paws, tail needs an extra inch or two. Points not a bad shade of chocolate, the tail paler but still chocolate, showing ghost rings, unshaded body. Coat of promising length but with too much evidence of undercoat over the body militating against flow, but the texture good; excellent furnishings to paws. Excellent temperament and presentation. On the day, too many little problems for me to award BOB.

Lilac Point Siamese Kitten, Male

1 Davis's IAMSIAM SOL SEAVIVOR M 4 Apr 07

A promising baby of good type, just old enough to be here but of a good size for his age. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile with a shallow depression above the brow not unusual in a baby, firm deep chin, teeth only just arriving but gums level. Eyes of very good shape, set rather straight as yet, which ideally would be a deeper shade of blue. Proportionate well fed body, the sternum palpable without actually protruding, legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance and with a slightly prominent last vertebra. Interestingly, he had originally been entered as a caramel point, but the points were a pale lilac with some evidence of pinky tones, nose leather and pads definitely lilac, the only suggestion of anything elese was the body colour which was slightly cool in tone. Still wearing his baby coat, a little fluffy; excellent temperament and presentation.

Lilac Point Siamese Kitten, Female

1+BOB Freeman's KRISTIKATS SERAPHINA F 9 Dec 06

An attractive well grown and weighty girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape, well set, the blue could ideally be a shade deeper. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points quite a pale lilac showing pinky overtones, and matching well; unshaded warm magnolia body. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Lilac Point Siamese Neuter

1 (PC N/A) Tatschner's PR HEATHLANDS SOOKMOL ESTELLE FN 14 Apr 06

A girl of reasonably good type. Longish even wedge needing a fraction more at the top, ears needing to be slightly larger and set a little high. Straight profile, chin deep but ebbs a little, bite level. Eyes of good shape though at first sight the rather long fur at the outer edge of her upper eyelids did distort it the shape, making them look distinctly odd. Set a little straight, colour a very good deep blue in the centre but shading off to a distinctly pale rim. Medium length very well fed body, long legs and neat paws, tail needing an extra inch or two to balance. Points of a dark lilac, distinctly blue-toned on the mask, the tail rather fawn and showing ghost rings, lightly shaded body cool-toned, off-white rather than magnolia; close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Sorry not to award the PC, as I know I have done before, but her colour in the excellent light left me no alternative.

Tortie Point Siamese Neuter

1+PC Corps's CH & PR PANDAI NEASSA (32b1) FN 20 Feb 05

A large rather restless lady of very good type. Long even wedge, a fraction long for its width, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, level bite lacking many incisors. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long strong muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Points of a good seal all well broken with shades of red, though the foreground red was rather pale. Moderately shaded body, close coat of very good texture. Handled well; excellent presentation.

BOB IMP GR CH & GR PR HELLFIRE HIPPYCHICK (32b2) FN 26 Nov 03

A girl of excellent type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile a little flat over the forehead, firm slightly shallow chin, level bite. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set and very good depth of blue. Longish strong well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction for balance. Points of a darkish blue all well broken in shades of cream, which also was on the dark side but cool-toned. Moderately shaded body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Miscellaneous Classes

Novice Adult

1 Davison's DORAL FORSYTHE (61nt) M 23 Nov 05

An attractive lad of good type but rather small and lacking in masculinity. Longish even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Eyes of very good shape and set though he did open them rather wide when out of the pen, colour would ideally be a slightly deeper blue. Medium length muscular body, long legs with largish paws, tail needing an extra fraction. Marked in a very good lilac-based caramel, showing faint thumbprints; clear "M" and single ribbon, faint leg bars and some evidence of tail rings over half the tail. Unshaded off-white body. Coat a little short over neck and shoulders, of adequate length over the body and of an excellent silky texture, very well furnished tail. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 White's ISADORA AV RAMITHI (61) F 21 Mar 06

A girl of fairly good type. Medium length slightly narrow wedge, ears of adequate size set in line. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape but rather full, well set but of a very pale shade of blue. Medium length surprisingly weighty body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra couple of inches to balance. Points of a darkish warn seal all rather brindled, especially the tail., body a rather cool toned cream, lightly shaded over the shoulders. Coat of quite a good length, a little dry but showing good flow. Rather timid though she handled well; excellent presentation.

A very large lad for his age, of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, needs a little more width at the top, large ears set slightly high. Dip in profile beneath the brow, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape set rather straight, needing more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with large paws, very long tail. Marked in a colour which was just starting to show signs of being apricot at the base of the ears, heels and tail, showing faint thumbprints, good "M" and single ribbon, very faint leg bars, rings of the upper third of the tail. Coat distinctly short as yet though of excellent silky texture, toe and ear furnishings developing, plume sparse. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Non-Pedigree Classes

Kevin Dean Memorial Class

1 Hutchinson's AMADEUS (Brown Tabby SLH) MN.

Judged on temperament only, and without competition, but an extremely worthy winner, cuddling up and kneading away with his huge paws.
