Coventry & Leicester C.C. - 24 Feb 2007

Thanks to Mark and the show management team for the invitation to judge. Good to see a healthy entry of Siamese and Orientals, even if it did make for a very busy day. Thanks to Angela for making the journey to steward for me - a great help as always.

Open Classes

AC Siamese / Balinese Champion, Male

GCC Atkinson's CH PASHTAN SPONGEBOB (32/5) 9 Oct 04

A handsome lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears which ideally would be just a fraction larger. Profile almost straight, chin ebbs fractionally, bite level. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set and adequate depth of blue. Long muscular body which I should prefer to see carrying a little more weight, though I understand this is often a problem for a working boy. Long legs with neat paws, tail needs a fraction to balance. Marked in a slightly dull red, showing a clear "M", single ribbon, good thumbprints, surprisingly good leg bars for a young red, tail two thirds ringed. Warm white body lightly shaded along the back, and over the back of the head, but still giving very good contrast. Coat close, the texture mainly very good, just a fraction greasy along the lower back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

AC Siamese / Balinese Champion, Female

GCC Michie's CH FISEPO FINESSE (32/1) 22 Oct 05

A well grown stylish girl of excellent type. Longish even well balanced wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin, level bite. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set, which for perfection would be a slightly deeper blue. Very long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Marked in a good warm seal with the tail rather darker: good "M" and thumbprints, double ribbons, good leg bars of a slightly fainter seal, tail half ringed. Lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. I believe this certificate made her into a Grand Champion - congratulations!

2 (Res GCC N/A) UK GR CH WINNOTHDALE EXKWIZIT (32b1) 10 Jul 01

An impressive large girl of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, very firm chin, no incisors now but gums clearly undershot, a message reinforced by the distance between upper and lower canines. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, long tail with a tiny irregularity at the tip. Points of a good seal all broken, the left rear foot rather sparsely, plenty of bright red in evidence on the ears, my personal preference would be for more elsewhere too. Moderately shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament even if showing the odd flash of "tortieness", excellent presentation. I would happily have awarded her the Reserve had it not been for her bite.

Oriental Black Kitten, Female

1 (BOB N/A) Davies's SATIVA KELSEY BLACK 4 Sep 06

A well grown girl of good type. Long wedge width a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Small dip in profile below the brow, chin ebbs a little, bite a little overshot. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good bright green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Glossy black, sound to the roots, just one or two scattered white hairs on neck and lower back. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. I thought the bite problem to be sufficient to preclude award of BOB.

Oriental Lilac Kitten, Male

1+BOB Debowska's METEXA MENDELSSOHN 11 Aug 06

An impressive well grown boy of very good type. Longish well balanced even wedge, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good intense green. Very long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour mostly a good pale lilac, a little unsound on the lower back but elsewhere sound to the roots. There was a faint brownish overcast to the body, but looking at the other lilacs present they all exhibited the same problem, mostly to a greater degree, so I concluded it a trick of the light. Close coat of excellent texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

Caramel Point Adult, Female

1 (IC N/A) Bauld's MOONCAT LADY STARDUST 24 Apr 06

A girl of fairly good type. Medium length wedge with rather a broad muzzle, needing more width at the top, large ears set in line. Small dip in profile, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes a little small full in shape, of a very pale blue. Medium length body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of a good lilac based caramel, unshaded body, coat a shade long of soft texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tortie Point Kitten

1+BOB Fenttiman's LOLUJA AINTSHESWEET (32b3) 13 Nov 06

An attractive and promising kitten of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Very shallow depression above the brow, very common in a young kitten and nothing to worry about, profile otherwise straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a very good deep blue. Proportionate firm body, legs with largish paws, balancing length of tail. Mask and ears rather a dark warm chocolate, paws and tail paler, all broken, the left hind foot rather sparsely, a distinctive pale tip to the tail, no bright red in evidence as yet. Unshaded warm ivory body, coat of good length though still a little fluffy. Excellent temperament and presentation, and just the right size for my pocket.

2 Grey's MEILLAND NELLY FURTADO (32b1) 4 Aug 06

A slightly small girl of good type. Longish even wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set which ideally would be a slightly deeper shade of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of a good seal, the paws paler, all well broken except the tail which was broken sparsely, but with no bright red in evidence. Warm cream body lightly shaded, coat of good length but a little harsh in texture along the back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tabby Point Kitten, Male

1 Gibbons's RICHDALE SHA TIN (32/1) 25 Sep 06

A lad of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set, a little deep set, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a darkish warm seal: good "M", single ribbon, thumbprints just visible, good leg bars, tail half ringed. Lightly shaded warm cream body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Ryland's STORMAWAY SIDNEYPURZALOT (32/3) 27 Jun 06

A lad of good type. Long even wedge needing more width at the top, large ears set in line. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set needing a little more depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Marked in a darkish chocolate, the tail of a unusually matching shade: good "M" and single ribbon, faint thumbprints, leg bars, tail fully ringed. Lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tabby Point Kitten, Female

1+BOB Handley's LOLUJA MOONLIGHTSHIMMER (32/2) 14 Oct 06

A pretty well grown kitten of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set though she did open them rather wide at first, of a very good deep blue. Proportionate firm body, legs with neat paws, balancing length of well tapered tail. Marked in a good blue, "M" and single ribbon developing and unusually showing thumbprints, very faint leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Unshaded body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Seal Point Neuter, Male

1 (PC N/A) Cousins's RENDZINA BORODIN 7 Feb 06

A lad of reasonably good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, needing more width at the top, large ears set in line. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape though a fraction full, well set but too pale a blue. Fairly long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. The points colour rather a conundrum, in many aspects looking more like a very dark chocolate than a seal, the tail indeterminate and very brindled, the nose leather which did look seal, though the pads did not, body colour nearer ivory than seal, though not really right for either. In the end I gave him the benefit of the doubt - I would be interested to see him again in better light. Coat of good length and texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

BOB Gibbons's GR PR RICHDALE SALAAM 2 Apr 04

A handsome strong boy of very good type. Long wedge with a tiny pinch, small bump at the back of the head, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm deep chin, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set which could do with a fraction more depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Well matched points of a darkish warm seal, a little paler round the eyes, lightly shaded body, coat of good length and excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Neuter, Male

1+PC+BOB Davies's PR RENDZINA CAPTAIN SCARLET 21 Apr 05

A lad of very good type who stood out on this class. Long well balanced wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm fractionally shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Points a good bright red, warm white body lightly shaded along the back. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Quest's MEILLAND SIMPLY RED 20 Feb 06

A lad of good type needing to grow up. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, and of a good depth of blue. Long body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two for balance. Points a slightly pale red, unshaded warm white body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Armett's PR HEATHERBEC FIREBIRD 17 Aug 04

A mature lad of good type. Long slightly pinched wedge, needing more width at the top and with quite a bump at the back of the head, large ears set in line. Small dip in profile and bump on the nose, chin firm but a little shallow, level bite lacking lower incisors. Eyes of good shape and set, of a reasonably good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, long tail with a small irregularity at the tip. Points very good bright red, very lightly shaded warm white body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A handsome lad of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue with an inscrutable expression. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a fractionally dull red, unshaded warm white body, white on the right ear, a patch on the forehead above the nose, to either side of the nose attempting to give the illusion of a pinch, on all paws, shoulders and hindquarters and fully white underneath, giving rather under a half white. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Breeders Kitten, Female

1 Lumley's JADEVYN POCAHONTAS (48 40) 17 Jun 06

Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Medium length wedge with a tiny pinch, needing a fraction more width at the top, large ears set in line. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a blue which ideally would have been deeper though given the proximity of white areas on the mask that might have been unreasonable to require. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Dark warm seal points, very lightly shaded cream body, white present in an inverted "V" on the mask, and on the ear tips, the legs mostly white, a broad stripe covering almost all of the underside, in total about one third white. Close coat of very good texture; excellent temperament and presentation.
