Lilac Point Siamese C.S. - 18 Aug 2007

My thanks to Barbie, Niki and the Show Committee for the opportunity to judge at this friendly show, once again even if the quantity of exhibits was a little disappointing, the quality certainly was not. And as always the lunch was excellent. My thanks to Paul for stewarding, which he did with care and sympathy for the exhibits - I look forward to the next time.

Open Classes

Seal Point Kitten, Male

1+BOB Pearson's JOMESE JUSTAKINDA MAGIC MN 18 Dec 06

A handsome well grown lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, large ears set a fraction low. Straight profile angled down slightly from the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape set a little straight, colour would ideally be a little deeper. Long strong body, the manubrium a little prominent, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of a good warm seal, warm cream body lightly shaded, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and condition.

Female

1 Simpson's MYLYNN MODERN MILLY 26 Mar 07

A girl of good type who really needs a growth spurt - at the moment, she looked at least a month younger than her real age. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small depression above the brow, not a real problem at this age, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set needing a little more depth of blue. Proportionate fine body, legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Point a good warm seal, but the very lightly shaded body rather cool-toned. Coat a little long, its texture more consistent with a younger age. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Caramel Point Kitten

2 (1 N/A) Bowles-Gowdy's MAFDET PRADA F 12 Feb 07

A very well grown kitten of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape though she was inclined to open them a little wide, of a good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance and with a prominent irregularity one vertebra from the end. Points a very good lilac-based caramel, with the brownish overtones very clear, unshaded off-white body. Close coat a little harsh in texture. Apart from the tail, I thought her the best kitten I judged on the day, but sadly it left me no alternative as to the class result.

Tabby Point Neuter, Female

1+PC+BOB Ralph's GR CH FIROUSI FLEURESSENCE (32t2) 26 Sep 01

An extrovert large mature girl of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile slightly raised at the brow now, but otherwise straight, firm deep chin though the line from nose to base of chin was angled slightly back, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, with a very good depth of blue. Long well-fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch or so, and with a small irregularity at the tip. Well marked in a good blue well mingled with shades of cool-toned pale cream: good "M", no thumbprints, single ribbon, good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Body lightly shaded - she seems to have improved in this respect since I last saw her - close coat of excellent. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Haywood's MONARD COSMIC GIRL (32/3) 12 Aug 05

A very nervous but nevertheless pleasing girl of good type. Medium length well balanced wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set needing a little more depth of blue. Medium length well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Maked in a fairly good warm chocolate, the tail somewhat darker: good "M", single ribbon, good thumbprints, good leg bars, tail half ringed. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent presentation. Unlucky in her competition today.

Caramel Point Neuter

1+PC+BOB Greeno's SHERMESE AZAMOUR 10 Apr 04

A handsome lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Almost straight profile, firm chin and bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Very long strong body, long legs with largish paws, tail needs half an inch for balance. Points a darkish lilac-based caramel, the necessary brown overtones clearly visible everywhere. Moderately shaded off-white body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent presentation, not enamoured of his neighbour but handled easily.

Miscellaneous Classes

Breeders 32 Series Adult

1 Baughan's MAPU TIFFANY (32/3) F 1 Jul 05

A girl of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set ears which I would prefer a fraction larger. Small dip in profile, chin a little shallow, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Marked in a good warm chocolate, her best attribute, and one which did militate against clarity in her leg markings, but the other markings were good : clear "M", single ribbon and thumbprint, tail almost fully ringed. Warm toned coat lightly shaded, coat close and of very good texture unfortunately suffering slightly from her having plucked it on the lower back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Maiden Adult

1 Peary's HARTZIE ZIGGI STARDUST (24a) F 27 Oct 06

A girl of good type, looking rather adolescent. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set and depth of blue. Long fine body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Points on the dark side of blue, lightly shaded cool toned body, coat a fraction long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Lilac Point Breeders Kitten

1 Freeman's KRISTIKATS SERAPHINA F 9 Dec 06

An attractive well grown girl of good type and very good colour. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points good lilac showing some pinky overtones, and matching well; very lightly shaded warm magnolia body. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Simpson's SHERMESE MACHERIE CHANEL F 4 Apr 07

A promising baby of good type. Longish wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape but held very full when out of the pen and a little full when back in safety. Colour could be a deeper shade of blue. Points quite a good pale lilac but rather lacking pinky tones, unshaded rather cool toned body. Coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Non Breeders Balinese Kitten

1 Whitby's PIPPASTRO PINK PANTHER (61n) F 23 Apr 07

A real charmer of a kitten of good type, although extremely restless when not being cuddled, and suffering a little from too much pressing of her face against the pen bars - hopefully with future show experience she will learn to relax more. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears which at the moment were just large enough. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape, set a little straight as yet, of a very good depth of blue. Medium length firm body, legs with large paws, tail needs an extra inch for balance. Points a promising lilac based caramel with clear signs of developing brownish overtones - though originally entered as lilac, second thoughts had been wise. Unshaded off white body. Coat developing very well for her age, very well furnished ears and toes, plume coming, promising length over the body; excellent silky texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Debutante Kitten

1 Simpson's FLUTTERBY FAROUK (32c) M 3 May 07

A very promising kitten of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set though held a little full, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body with rather a full tummy, legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Soft cool- toned cream points developing, which were however on the dark side, unshaded creamy white body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Pearson's JOMESE JUSTAKINDA MAGIC (24) MN

3 Pearson's JOMESE JEMMIMA FIREFOX (32a) F 18 Dec 06

Kitten with best eye colour

1 Simpson's FLUTTERBY TUK'S INLUCKYLAND (24b) F 28 Feb 07

2 Simpson's SHERMESE TOO TOO PATOU (24a) M 4 Apr 07

Very little to choose between the two, both exhibiting a depth of blue which is sadly rare these days. Equal first not being allowed, the placing was determined by depth of colour being more difficult to achieve in a chocolate point than a blue point.

Debutante Neuter

1 Bray's JOMESE JINGLE BELLS (24c) MN 21 Feb 06

A lad of good type, a little lacking masculinity. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a slightly pale shade of blue, showing a strong tendency to squint, though it was not fixed. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a little on the dark side, showing some evidence of pinky tones, unshaded magnolia body. Coat of good length and texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

He was also the only entry in the class for best lilac point points colour, in which his colour was easily good enough to warrant first prize.

Virgo/Libra/Scorpio/Saggitarius Kitten

Non-Pedigree Classes

SH Female Adult

1 Hutchinson's SUSANNA (Black Tortie & White) FN March 03

A pretty girl, her black attractively patched with some quite bright red, loved the white ear tips!. Bright green eyes, neat ears, medium size well fed body, short coat of a beautiful texture. The only really relaxed cat of the three, happy to stand on the trolley and be petted, and even venturing a slight purr. Excellent presentation.

2 Lewis's MC GYPSY (Blue Tortie Tabby & White) FN 2 years 4 months

A pretty girl, caramel rather than blue I think, and with faint evidence of tortie breaks. Bright green eyes, neat ears set on top, large paws with four neat spotless white socks. Thick glossy coat of soft texture. Rather apprehensive out of the pen, though she did consent to be handled with some diffidence, but very happy posing back in her pen. Excellent presentation.

3 Maskell's PHOEBE (Cinnamon & White) FN 2 years
