Wilts & District C.C. - 7 July 2007

Thanks to Elaine, Jackie and the show management team for the invitation to judge, the show as busy as always and I hope successful. I took on some of Brenda Pearce's classes when she was unable to get to the show, I hope exhibitors were not too disappointed by the substitution. My thanks to Charlotte Heath who stepped in to steward for me on the day, when my originally booked steward was ill - get well soon, Angela. It was Charlotte's first engagement, and in a section strange to her, but she handled the strange long slinky things well - I hope we can repeat the exercise.

Open Classes

Foreign White Kitten

1 (BOB N/A) Bauerfeind's SHIMILEETA WHISPERINSPIRIT M 10 Mar 07

A charming baby of very good type, just large enough though of good weight for his size. Longish wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a shallow depression above the brow which I would expect to grow out, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, though he did open them rather wide from apprehension at first, of a good depth of blue slightly paler at the rim. Firm body, neat paws, balancing length of tail with a slightly prominent last vertebra. Coat a good pure white, fur a little sparse on the tummy, the skin on the inside of the back legs rather dirty though the fur above was white, giving a rather grey appearance which did rather spoil his appearance, as did a little short black line on the surface of the left rear paw. Presentation otherwise excellent, temperament superb once he had overcome his initial panic. I feel sure he has a bright future, but did not think I could award a BOB on the day.

Blue Point Kitten

1+BOB Hand's SANDTUM KEIRA F 10 Nov 06

A very well grown girl of good type. Longish wedge a little fine in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set ears which would ideally be a fraction larger. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a reasonable depth of blue, with an occasional wayward look in the left. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra couple of inches for balance. Points a slightly dark blue, body moderately shaded, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Sibley's ABICASA PRINCESS ABIGAILLE F 13 Feb 07

A well grown baby of good type. Medium length even wedge, needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin, bite slightly undershot. Eyes of good shape and set of quite a good blue though paler at the rim, showing an inward glance to the left which I could not persuade to disappear. Medium length firm body, legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch for balance. Points a dark blue, very lightly shaded body showing a good approach to glacial. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Caramel Point Kitten

1+BOB Harper's BELGARION MAGICAL MYSTERY M 28 Nov 06

A well grown lad of good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Straight profile, very firm deep chin, bite surprisingly was level. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a very good depth of blue, unusual in a caramel point. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a good lilac based caramel, with plentiful brown overtones, unshaded off-white body. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tortie Point Kitten

2 (1 N/A) Dawe's JOMESE JEWEL (32b1) F 18 Dec 06

A kitten of good type, a little fiery in temper. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set, unfortunately of a very pale watery blue whichever angle they were viewed from. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of good warm seal well broken apart from the left rear paw which was almost solid, with just a few pale red hairs at the heel, giving her a very odd appearance. Almost unshaded warm cream body, close coat of good texture. Excellent presentation. I hope the eye colour improves when she is older, as I have known to happen, but in its current state I felt unable to award a first prize.

Lilac Point Neuter

Considered for BOB, but not awarded: Crumpler's PR MALIKASIAM WINTERSNOWROSE FN 8 Dec 04

In many ways an attractive girl, of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, very firm chin but unfortunately, even though she had only one lower incisor left her bite was clearly undershot. as confirmed by the distance between upper and lower canines. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch or two for balance. Points a fairly pale shade of lilac but lacking in the desired pinky tones, unshaded magnolia body, close coat of a little soft in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Neuter

BOB Wallace's GR PR ROZANDEN SIMBA MFALME MN 12 Apr 03

A large handsome lad of very good type. Long wedge with a tiny pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm slightly shallow chin, bite fractionally over. Eyes of very good shape and set and very good depth of blue. Very long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance the extra body length. Points a slightly pale red, warm white body lightly shaded on the back, coat a fraction long but of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Miscellaneous Classes

Oriental Breeders Adult

1 Bauerfeind's CH SHIMILEETA IWASBORNTOLOVEU (35) M 7 May 05

A masculine lad of very good type, extremely difficult to assess, his one thought to escape back to the safety of his pen. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Dip in profile, chin firm but shallow, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set the colour difficult to assess since the pupils were very enlarged; what I could see appeared to have a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Colour a pure white, the fur a little sparse on the upper surface of the tail at the base, where it looked to have been (successfully) treated for stud tail. Presentation seemed to have been excellent before he re-arranged it.

2 Miller's CH PASHTAN YME (37d) F 6 Aug 05

An attractive girl of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, large ears set marginally low. Very small bump at the back of the head, slight dip in profile, firm chin, few incisors remaining but gums appear level.. Eyes of very good shape and set, of an olive green. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Colour a slightly pale though bright red, sound to the roots, I think the best approach to a self red I have seen, particularly commendable since her underlying pattern appears to be spotted. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Dawe's BARBECCO WALLISIMPSON (37e) F 4 Oct 06

A girl of good type, looking quite mature for her age. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite level but already missing most lower incisors. Eyes of very good shape and set of a rather pale green. Long body which ideally I would prefer to see carrying a little more weight, manubrium a little prominent, long legs with neat paws, balancing lengthy of tail. Colour jet black well broken everywhere with shades of red, with plenty of bright red in the mixture, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Junior Adult

1 Brine's LYNNOX MYSYAMEEZ GALILEO (24c) M 7 Aug 06

A mature lad of very good type. Long wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Slight depression above the brow, profile otherwise straight, chin ebbs rather and a little shallow, bite messy but level. Eyes of very good shape and set needing rather more depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a good lilac slightly darker on the ears, showing some evidence of pinky tones, unshaded magnolia body, close coat of good texture. Rather shy, excellent presentation.

2 Dawe's BARBECCO STAY WITH ME (32/5) M 18 Sep 06

A lad of good type still to develop masculinity. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and very good depth of blue, but set straight which did spoil his appearance. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good bright red: clear "M", thumbprints, faint leg bars, tail half ringed. Almost unshaded warm white body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Jones's TILDEN TROUBLENSPICE (24k) F 22 Aug 06

Siamese/Balinese Senior Adult

1 Greenland's CH MOONFLEET JOIE DEVIVRE (32/5) M 1 Jun 05

A very strong masculine-looking lad, of very good type. Long almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite level though lacking incisors. Eyes of excellent shape and set and of a very good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good bright red: clear "M", thumbprints and single ribbons, fairly clear leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Close coat but a little greasy along the back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Webb's CH SPIRESHADOW TIGERLILY (32/8) F 14 Jul 03

A pretty girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good lilac-based caramel: clear "M", faint thumbprints, single ribbon, faint leg bars, tail full ringed but linked along the top. Unshaded off-white body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Morgan's ASTRALBLAESE ANDROMEDA (24n) F 21 Nov 04

Aristocrat Adult

1 Bresnan's SANDTUM ARCTIC FROST (35) M 2 May 06

A handsome lad of very good type, looking very mature considering his age, but another who really hated to be out of his pen, and not at all easy to assess. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra half inch to balance. Colour a snowy white except for the top of the tail at the root which was a pale cream , presumably the result of stud tail which seemed to be under control. Close coat of good texture. Excellent presentation.

2 Greenland's MOONFLEET VANITY FAIR (32b3) F 21 Oct 04

A girl of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set needing a little more depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour an extremely dark chocolate, all well broken with some bright red in the mixture. Moderately shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Bauerfeind's SHIMILEETA ALWAYSONMYMIND (32/1) F 6 Aug 05

Maiden Kitten

1 Button's ABICASA DON-PASQUALE (32/1) M 13 Feb 07

A very promising baby of very good type, though with a couple of problems which I hope he grows out of. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin with a tiny beard, bite scissored under. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a really attractive deep blue. Proportionate body, legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a rather black-toned seal, the unshaded body rather cool-toned too: clear "M" mostly formed already, clear thumbprints and single ribbon, faint leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Junior Neuter

1 Lee's WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD (37p) FN 27 May 06

A most attractive girl of excellent type. Longish well balanced wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears, though she did tend to flatten them from apprehension. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a clear slightly pale green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Very good lilac based caramel well mingled everywhere with shades of apricot, with plenty of warmth in the breaks, and an attractive blaze on the nose. Close coat of very good texture. Very shy, needing a lot of persuasion to display her attractions, excellent presentation.

2 Baxter's SOLARUS CATHY'S CLOWN (37r) MN 28 Jul 05

A strong lad of very good type. Longish almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good vibrant green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a good pale warm mushroom, completely free of ghost pattern, a little unsound on the lower back but otherwise sound to the roots. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Davies's SNOWSEAL MAXIMUM IMPACT (29) MN 30 Sep 06

Non-Pedigree Classes

Junior Adult

1 Alldridge-Snell's ELLA (Caramel Tabby & White SH) FN 16 months

A pretty compact girl, nice distinct spots on her body, looking as though she had stepped into a paint pot with all feet and the underbody white, the rest coloured. Bright apple green eyes, glossy slightly wiry coat, she did submit to examination but was really much more interested in swearing at cats in the neighbouring pens.

Senior Adult

1 Allen's TWIXIE (White & Black SLH) MN 5 years

An old friend, who greeted us by rolling on his back and waggling his front paws in the air, which made him hard to resist. A huge and weighty lad, causing my steward to struggle as she tried to pick him up for a cuddle. Pale green eyes with a supercilious expression, coat mostly white with a few black blotches, and the white spotless. Although friendly, we did not quite manage to coax a purr out of him.

2 Stanbridge's DUKE (Black LH) MN 11 years

An extremely friendly large boy, and in great shape for his age, a credit to his owners. A Persian look-alike with masses of soft coat in excellent condition standing out around him, and I loved the ear fronds. The coat was a little rusty in places, a hazard of the season I expect. Bright amber eyes, neat ears on top of his head. We did manage to persuade a small purr out of him: I found the decision for first place very difficult to make.

3 Lynch's POPPY (Black & White SLH) FN 4 years
