Cheshire Area CC - 8 Nov 2008

Thanks to Pat and the show management team for the invitation to judge, good to see the large entry and oif a high quality even if it made for a busy day. Thanks to Jenny Eckstein for her good company and expertise in stewarding - the first time for a while, I hope we can arrange a repeat engagement rather sooner.

Open Classes

Grand Champion, Male

GCC Caney's CH MERRYTAIL MYHINENI (24c) 6 Feb 07

A strong mature lad of good type. Longish wedge with jowls starting to appear, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, chin deep but ebbs slightly, bite messy but basically level. Eyes of good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail fine and needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a good lilac though the tail rather fawn, body lightly shaded over the hips. Very close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament though shy, excellent presentation.

Grand Champion, Female

A strong class, with all four exhibits deserving the certificate, but unfortunately only one to give

GCC Pounds's GR CH JOMESE JENUINELY GORJUS (32a) F 4 May 06

An impressive girl of excellent type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, but angled down slightly from the brow, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set and of a very good depth of blue (slightly marbled, but the lighter shade in the marbling also quite deep) . Elegant neck, long substantial muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points rather a pale red, very lightly shaded warm white body, close coat of excellent texture. A little argumentative today, excellent presentation.

Res Knowlson's GR CH DRESTOTHRIL SILK DRAWERS (32b1) F 3 Jun 06

A girl of excellent type, as usual with a lot to say for herself. Long even wedge, good width at the top, large ears set a little low. Small dip in profile and bump on the nose, very firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set, of a very good depth of blue. Long slender muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points of a darkish warm seal, all well broken with plenty of bright red in the mixture, a distinctive narrow blaze up the forehead, moderately shaded warm cream body. Close coat of excellent texture. Handled well, excellent presentation. I would like to have seen her body carrying more weight - I wonder whether she had managed to lose a bit of condition through persistent calling - and between two closely balanced cats, though of very contrasting styles, that finally made the difference.

Grand Premier, Male

Another strong class, with five of the six present deserving the certificate (the other being the cream point whom I believe to be wrongly registered and wrong coloured - see his open class).

GCC Thorpe's PR JOHPAS DROPDREDGORGEOUS (32a) 19 Oct 07

An extremely handsome lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set once he could be persuaded to wake up properly - before that, they appeared a little small - of a blue which for perfection would be a fraction deeper. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of a rather pale red, unshaded body, close coat of excellent texture, excellent temperament and presentation.

Res Pounds's IMP GR PR JOMESE JACKTHELAD (24a) 7 Apr 05

A handsome lad of very good type, if lacking in the last degree of masculinity. Long wedge with a small pinch, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm slightly shallow chin, level bite lacking most incisors. Eyes of excellent shape and set of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Points a very good soft blue, moderately shaded body cool-toned under the shading. Close coat of very good texture, excellent temperament and presentation.

Very close behind came Davies's GR PR RENDZINA CAPTAIN SCARLET (32a)

Lilac Point Adult

BOB Caney's CH MERRYTAIL MYHINENI M

Tabby Point Adult

1 (CC N/A) Cassar-Simmonds's FURRYFACE ESPERANZA (32/4) F 4 Jan 08

A girl of good type still looking more like a kitten than an adult. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, quite an extensive though shallow depression above the brow, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Colour something of a conundrum at present, the head seems nearer to caramel, paws and tail more like lilac, the body magnolia and nose leather and paw pads nearer to lilac. Well marked, with good markings to the head, including thumbprints (which to my mind suggests she will in the end turn out to be caramel), very faint leg bars, well ringed tail. Close coat of good texture. Timid, though she handled well, excellent presentation.

Apricot Point Kitten

1+BOB Davies's BETHANJO WALKINGONSUNSHINE F 12 May 08

A kitten of good type. Long wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small bump on nose but profile otherwise straight, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set once relaxed, of a blue which would ideally be a little deeper. Long slender muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a promising warm apricot with brownish overtones developing, unshaded body, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Lilac Point Neuter

1+PC+BOB Williams's ROYSTERER SNOWDAZZLER MN 20 May 07

A large lad of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm but slightly shallow chin, level bite lacking most incisors. Eyes of good shape and set which I should prefer to be a slightly deeper shade of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Colour a darkish lilac to the head, tracings just reaching the ears, some colour loss around the main veins on the ears, other points a pale lilac and all showing some degree of pinky tones. Magnolia body very lightly shaded, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Cream Point Neuter

Wrong Colour Webster's PR STENIC RIKKI TIKKI TARVI (32c) MN 11 Nov 06

A lad of good type, Longish even wedge a little short in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, chin ebbs slightly, level bite. Eyes of good shape though a little full, well set, needing to be a deeper shade of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction. Points not matched, the rear legs and tail dark, very warm toned and with clear brownish overtones, quite definitely apricot not cream - the mask and ears rather dark, not so warm but still showing some brownish overtones also indicating apricot to me if not so clearly. Lightly shaded creamy white body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Visitors Neuter

1 Rowe's GR PR FOXYPAWS SUA LAI (43a) FN 20 Aug 08

An attractive girl of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of a vibrant mid green. Medium length firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a darkish blue, with an extermely pale ground colour - I did wonder whether she might be low grade silver rather than standard - the undercolour coming about two thirds of the way up the hair shafts over most of the body, but still showing rather too evident a spotted pattern to the lower sides. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Lowell's SUSPIRIA WILLIAM BECKFORD (37k) MN

Siamese Debutante Adult

1 Madden's GEMBA ORANGEBLOSSOM (61fnt) F 6 Feb 08

A girl of reasonably good type, only just adult but with a lot of developing to do. Head rather small for the body, Medium length wedge a little short in the muzzle, needing a little more width at the top, ears set a little high and need to be bigger to balance. Straight profile, firm but slightly shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of good basic shape but rather full, of a good deep blue. Medium length firm body, long legs with surprisingly neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Marked in a very good hot dingy-toned apricot: good head markings (including thumbprints), very faint leg bars, well ringed tail. Lightly shaded body. Coat of promising length and excellent texture, well furnished plume and ears. Grumbled but handled well, excellent presentation.

1 Knowlson's DRESTOTHRIL KIKI DEE (32/3) F 1 Aug 08

A promising baby of excellent type. Longish well balanced wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, incisors just coming through - bite appears level. Eyes of very good shape set a little straight of a very good deep blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Markings developing in a darkish chocolate which I would not like to see become much darker, unshaded body. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Palmer's STYPERSON TOP DRAWER (32/1) F 1 Jul 08

A well grown girl of outstanding type, but unfortunately with a snag. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, ears a little large at present but I expect she will grow into them. Their set, however, is at the moment unacceptably low, with the tops if anything slightly below the horizontal. Straight profile, very firm deep chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape, set a little straight, of a very good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Very well marked in darkish seal - good head markings, very good paler leg bars, well ringed tail. Body lightly shaded over the hips and a little cooler in tone than ideal. Close coat of excellent texture, excellent temperament and presentation.
