Croydon C.C. - 9 Feb 2008

Thanks to Pat and the show management team for inviting me to judge, and to Cathy Baxter for stewarding: though fairly new to the game, she handled the exhibits very well and was congenial company: I look forward to the next time.

Open Classes

Caramel Point Kitten

1+BOB Cosgrove's BETHANJO THEODORE (24n) MN 18 Jun 07

A well grown strong boy of good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from quite a bump on the nose, chin firm but quite shallow, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set needing more depth of blue. Long well fed muscular body, long legs with largish paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a good blue-based caramel, with clear brown overtones, lightly shaded cool-toned body. Close coat of wonderful texture, excellent temperament and presentation.

Chocolate Point Male Neuter

1 (PC N/A) Tatschner's CH CHAIROSS PRINCERUPERT 22 Feb 05

A strong lad of good type. Long wedge, somewhat overlong in the muzzle and with rather a pinch, good width at the top, well set ears which ideally would be a shade larger. Straight profile apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin, bite almost level. Eyes of good shape and set, with a good depth of blue, but unfortunately showing a very definite squint, which he persisted in even though I returned to the pen a few times in the course of the morning hoping he had thought better of it. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two for balance. Points a warm but darkish chocolate, made to look paler than it really is because all points but the ears were rather brindled, ivory body a little cool toned and showing light surface shading on the lower back, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Lilac Point Neuter Female

1+PC+BOB Tatschner's HEATHLANDS SOOKMOL ESTELLE 14 Apr 06

A girl of reasonably good type. Longish even wedge needing a little more width at the top, ears needing to be a little larger set in line. Straight profile, firm chin though the line from nose to chin slightly angled back, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set though a little small, her broad nose meaning they were rather far apart, of a good depth of blue. Medium length very well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch or two to balance. Points of a dark lilac, matching well apart from the tail which was rather fawn, body lightly shaded over the hips, close coat of a little harsh in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Miscellaneous Classes

Oriental Breeders Adult

1 Bauerfeind's GR CH SHIMILEETA INDIANPRINCE (35) M 4 Jun 05

A handsome masculine lad of excellent type, who would do himself more justice if only he would relax. Long even wedge showing moderate jowling, good width at the top, well set large ears though he did tend to flatten them. Dip in profile, chin firm but a little shallow, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, the colour could ideally have more depth of blue. Long well fed muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an inch to balance. Colour a good pure white, close coat of very good texture. Excellent presentation

2 Bauerfeind's GR CH SHIMILEETA IWASBORNTOLOVEU (35) M 4 May 05

A mature boy of very good type, another whose extremely tenseness made him problematic to assess. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Dip in profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two. Colour pure white except at for the base of the tail which was showing signs of treated stud tail; close coat of slightly harsh texture, a little uneven on the top of the neck where he seemed to have been scruffed. Excellent presentation.

3 Sharp-Popple's CH DENSON LADY EMMA HAMILTON (29) F 29 Jun 05

A neat girl of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, pugnacious chin, bite with only one upper incisor left but appears level. Eyes of good shape and set, of a good green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Colour quite a dark chestnut though not without warmth, not quite sound to the roots, some scattered white hairs on the bikini line. Cot close, a little dry in texture. Excellent presentation, rather temperamental and not at all eager to be handled.

Oriental Non-Breeders Adult

No award May's FIROUSI FIREFROST (48d) M 23 Aug 06

A handsome rather worried lad of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of a clear olive green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a good rich red almost sound to the roots, showing and acceptable degree of spotted pattern. Some (though not much) white on the head, on about one third of the underside - though the edges are white, there is a broad stripe of red running the length of the underside. Chest and throat mostly white, legs half white. Close coat of good texture; excellent presentation.

Little as I liked doing this, the SOP does require all awards to be withheld for less than one third white to colour.

Oriental Maiden Kitten

1 May's PALANTIR CRYSTAL SHARD (48 40h) F 2 Nov 07

A very promising baby of excellent type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile with a small dip and very shallow depression above the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape set rather straight at present, of a very good depth of blue. Proportionate body, legs with largish paws, balancing length of tail. Points a slightly dark warm chocolate, patched with red which has not fully developed as yet. White covering the whole of the underside extending up the sides in places, some white on the back, clearly distinguishable from the lightly shaded body colour, white to all paws, and off-centre blaze to the face and white below the eyes. Superb temperament; excellent presentation.

2 May's PALANTIR SNOWSTRIPE (48c) M 2 Nov 07

A promising baby of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile with a tiny depression above the brow, nothing to worry about at this age, firm chin and level bite, the teeth just arriving. Eyes of good shape, set rather straight, of a rather muddy colour at present but promising good depth of green. Proportionate well fed body, legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a dark lilac, though with some brownish overtones which hint that he may well become clearly caramel when the colour has fully developed. White covering most of the underside, throat and chin, completely inside the back legs, some on the shoulders, white tips to the ears which I find very attractive, a blaze on the face and white below the eyes. Proportion of white to colour slightly over one third.

Oriental Aristocrat Neuter

1 Clements's LUNATORA SILVERSTARDUST (43s) MN 24 Apr 07

An adolescent of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, chin deep but ebbs slightly, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape when he relaxed, well set and of a good green. Long lean body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs a fraction to balance. Colour a good black, good clear silver undercolour rather over half way up the hairshaft, still leaving two to three bands of ticking. Still, he is quite young, so the undercolour has time to develop more. Very tarnished, note only on muzzle and paws, but also the cheeks and most of the way up all legs. Coat close and of good texture. Rather apprehensive; excellent presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Non-Breeder's Adult

1 Studer's FLUTTERBY FENELLA (32c) F 3 May 07

An adolescent of very good type and maturity commensurate with her age. Long wedge with a small pinch, good spacing between well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs a fraction to balance. Points quite a pale cool toned cream, darker on the tail. Unshaded creamy white body; close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Debutante Adult

1 Studer's FLUTTERBY FENELLA (32c) F

2 Greenland's MOONFLEET GIVENCHY (24) F 15 Apr 07

An adolescent of good type, but looking a little more juvenile than her competitor. Longish wedge, a little fine in the muzzle and with a small pinch. Good width at the top, large ears well set. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, and of a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a darkish warm seal, moderately shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Junior Adult

1 Whitby's PIPPASTRO PINK PANTHER (61n) F 23 Apr 07

A girl of good type, looking a little innocent as yet. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears of adequate size. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape set rather straight as yet, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with large paws, tail needs an extra inch for balance. Points a good lilac based caramel with clear brownish overtones visible, lightly shaded off-white body. Coat a little short over the neck and shoulders, good length elsewhere, of an excellent soft silky texture; well furnished plume, good toe furnishings and some to ears. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Kitten

1 Bauerfeind's SHIMILEETA MOREOFTHATJAZZ (32/1) F 8 Sep 07

A kitten of good type. Medium length wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape but rather full, needing significantly more depth of blue. Medium length firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour something of a conundrum, rear legs and tail do appear seal, though the rear paw pads are not quite as dark as expected for a seal. Head and ears look more like a dark chocolate, and the nose leather and front paws pads are consistent with that. The unshaded coat is nearer ivory than cream. "M" forming, very large thumbprints on the ears, double ribbons, well ringed tail, leg bars forming but hardly present as yet on the front legs. Close coat of good texture, excellent temperament and presentation. No doubt with time it will become clearer what his colour is; at present I was prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Siamese/Balinese Junior Neuter

1 Muir-Taylor's PR GLENTHORNE EURWYN (32c) MN 7 Jun 06

An imposing lad of very good type. Long wedge, a little overlong in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape, set a fraction straight, of a good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a good pale cool toned cream, the tail darker but still cool; unshaded creamy white body. Close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Tatschner's HEATHLANDS SOOKMOL ESTELLE (24c) FN

Siamese/Balinese Senior Neuter

1 Bauerfeind's UK IMP GR PR SHIMILEETA WHOSEGORGEOUS (32/1) MN 24 Mar 03

A handsome lad of very good type. Long wedge, a little overlong in the muzzle, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile has quite a dip, chin ebbs slightly, bite scissored over. Eyes of excellent shape and set with an acceptable depth of blue. Very long strong well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance the body length. Well marked in dark warm seal: good "M", double ribbons, clear thumbprints and leg bars, tail three quarters ringed. Heavily shaded body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Tatschner's CH CHAIROSS PRINCERUPERT (24b) MN

Siamese/Balinese Veteran Neuter

A pair of golden oldies, both in excellent condition not really showing their respective years.

1 Tobias's GR CH & UK GR PR APRIKAT SHESPRETTYINPINK (32b4) FN 29 Apr 99

A girl of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, very firm chin, just one lower incisors now more or less in line with the upper ones. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Medium length well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs a couple of inches to balance. Points of dark lilac, all broken though only sparsely on the mask, the cream in the breaks a little warm in tone. Body lightly shaded, coat a little long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Davis's UK GR PR IAMSIAM JIVE TALKING (32a) MN 29 Dec 93

A lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears one of which seemed to have been the recipient of a stray claw or tooth. Profile raised between the eyes but otherwise straight, perhaps a little flat over the forehead. Level bite with a surprising number of incisors still present. Long body, long legs with largish paws, balancing length of tail. Points of quite a good red, lightly shaded body, coat a little long and soft in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
