Eastern Counties CS - 2 Aug 2008

My thanks to Audrey and the Show Committee for bringing me in to take over some of Sheila Hamilton's and Celia Leighton's classes when they were unable to judge: I hope exhibitors were not too disappointed by the substitution. Good to see the significant increase in entries. Thanks also to Lisa Aggett for stewarding for me, excellent as always: I look forward to the next time.

Open Classes

Oriental Grand Champion, Male

GCC Cheeseman's CH SIAMHELLCAT MRMAJESTIK (37a) 8 Apr 07

An impressive lad of very good type, if lacking the ultimate degree of maturity. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, level bite missing many incisors. Eyes of good shape and set, showing a baleful expression, of a good clear green colour. Long muscular body, just spreading a little around the midriff, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour a darkish blue sound to the roots, close over most of the body but a fraction long on the lower back, of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Grand Champion, Female

GCC Tarbox's CH CHIKUAI LALIMA (37d) 8 Jul 06

An elegant girl of good type. Longish almost even wedge, needing a fraction more width at the top to balance, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long muscular body, but more slender than I would ideally like to see, long legs with neat paws, tail length almost balances. Colour a good rich red sound to the roots, showing a commendable absence of pattern, close coat of good texture. This girl does have the most wonderful temperament and knows how to sell herself, excellent presentation. Though not without her minor faults I felt she well deserved the certificate.

2 (Res GCC N/A) Hirst's CH SHADOWSQUAD SCHERAZADE (38a) 27 Sep 06

A girl of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, top a little narrow, ears of adequate size set a fraction high. Eyes of good basic shape but a little full, well set and of a good clear green. Profile almost straight, chin firm but a little shallow, bit unfortunately undershot. Medium length well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extras inch or two to balance. Pattern colour quite a good blue, on a cool toned oatmeal ground, not too much contrast between the two in the hall lighting: good head markings and well ringed tail, the body markings almost free of agouti, but showing quite a degree of linkage on the sides and the spine line rather solid, markings not quite sound to the roots. Coat a fraction long along the back, texture very good. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Lilac, Male

1 (CC N/A) Saxon's TIJANMEEK THEPHANTOM 1 Sep 07

A surprisingly mature looking lad for his age, of good type. Long even wedge needing more width at the top, ears set in line but needing to be fraction larger to balance. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of a good green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour quite a good lilac to the head and paws, but very brown tinged over the back of the head and the body, though rather less so on the right side than the left, reasonably sound. I did wonder whether he had been sunbathing, though if so I wonder where he found the sun: in any event, the colour was not correct. Close coat of good texture, excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Longhair Neuter, Male

BOB Ellis's PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW (62 20) 9 Dec 06

A large and impressive lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set, colour a clear palish green. Very long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra couple of inches to balance. Markings in a dense black sound to the roots, ground colour not as warm in tone as I would like, spotted pattern quite good, with good head markings, well ringed tail, good leg bars, some linkage to the spots on the sides and the spine line rather less well broken than I should prefer. Coat of length a little better than adequate, though I should prefer it to be longer, of an excellent soft silky texture, well furnished plume, good ear and foot furnishings. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tabby Point Adult, Female

1+CC+BOB Putland's MAFDET FANTASIA 16 Jul 04

An impressive girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, though she did open them rather wide when out of the pen, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good warm seal, with good head markings, fainter leg bars, tail half ringed. Body moderately shaded, showing an excellent spotted pattern, but still with perfectly adequate contrast to the points, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Miscellaneous Classes

AC Oriental Kitten

1 Ellis's ROUJASMA SILVATIGA (62 43s) M 22 Mar 08

A handsome well grown baby of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, a little short in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Eyes of good shape though a little full, well set, olive green in colour. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Long firm body, long legs with reasonably neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good dense black on a clear silver ground, clear spotted pattern across the shoulders, less clear on the body but the colour within the pattern almost reaching the roots, so I have definite doubts whether when fully developed he will prove to be shaded, very tarnished muzzle and a fair way up the legs. Coat showing promising length and an excellent soft silky texture, charming tufts to rear of ears, plume developing well. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Sharpe-Popple's DENSON SIEGFRIED FARNOM (29) M 19 Apr 08

A baby of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a palish rather dull green. Colour a good warm chestnut sound to the roots, with a scattering of white hairs on the neck, and a cluster on the chest. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Bennett's ADAJAN MANOFTHEMOMENT (48 40b) M 25 Jan 08

AC Oriental Debutante Kitten

1 Ellis's ROUJASMA RED RUFUS (62 43ds) M 22 Mar 08

A charming well grown baby of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape, set a little straight, olive green in colour. Long firm body, long legs with large paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a rich red, showing not much evidence of pattern over the body, clear silver undercolour about one third of the way up the hairs at present. Coat developing well, of excellent soft silky texture, good foot and ear furnishings even if without his brother's tufts, plume developing well. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A substantial lad of good type, looking better in his pen than out. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of a clear pale green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. 3 Clements's LUNATORA SILVERMINSTREL (43bs) MN 14 Aug 07

AC Siamese/Balinese Adolescent Adult

1 Patton's FLUTTERBY GOODNESSGRACIOUS (24n) F 16 Oct 07

A stylish girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile a little flat over the forehead, firm slightly shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points lilac based caramel, which I would prefer to see with clearer brownish overtones: I would like to see her in daylight. Body colour definitely off-white, lightly shaded across the hips, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Cartwright's BUNEHUG BELIEVEINMAGIC (32a) M 22 Apr 07

A lad of reasonably good type. Long wedge with a pinch, muzzle rather weak, needs more width at the top, large ears set in line. Flat forehead and small dip below the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes rather full, set straight and needing more depth of blue. Long rather rangy body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a good bright red, lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
