Lilac Point Siamese CS - 16 Aug 2008

My thanks to Barbie and the show management team for the invitation to judge - the new venue a good one (not least for me because it's local), the light a little dim but with daylight available when required. Thanks to Joan Pounds for coming specially to steward for me always a great help, I look forward to the next time. I hope those who had entered in the classes I took over from Lynne Studer were not too disappointed by the substitution I hope she is soon recovered.

Open Classes

Grand Champion, Male

GCC Bowles-Gowdy's GR CH TINTALLY MAFDET-ESQUIRE (24n) 24 Dec 05

A stylish lad of very good type. Long even wedge showing a little jowling, good width at the top, large ears set fractionally low. Tiny dip in profile, firm deep chin, no lower incisors now but the bite looks level. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long slender but muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Points of a dark blue-based caramel showing clear sludgy overtones, body moderately shaded over head and along back, lightly shaded elsewhere, showing adequate contrast even on the head. Coat close, a little harsh in texture along the back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Grand Champion, Female

GCC Knowlson's GR CH DRESTOTHRIL DANCELOT (32b1) 3 Jun 06

A mature girl of excellent type. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a dark warm seal all well broken, with plenty of bright red in the mixture especially on the ears. Lightly shaded warm cream body, close coat of very good texture. Handled well though very vocal, excellent presentation.

Res Bowles-Gowdy's CH MAFDET VALENTINA (24) 25 May 07

A girl of very good type though rather fine for my taste. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a good warm seal showing some war wounds to nose and ears, lightly shaded warm cream body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Seal Point Adult, Female

1+CC+BOB Bowles-Gowdy's MAFDET THEJAZZSINGER 25 May 06

A mature lady of very good type. Long almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of very good shape and set which I should prefer to be of a slightly deeper shade of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points of a good warm seal all a little brindled, moderately shaded very warm toned body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Considered for BOB: CH MAFDET VALENTINA

Blue Point Kitten, Male

Wrong Colour Hill's SOWHYNOT WINTERPRINCE 4 Jan 08

A lad of good type, who I should prefer to see a little larger for his age and sex. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set which would ideally be a slightly deeper shade of blue. Longish substantial body, long legs with huge paws for him to grow into, tail needs a fraction more for balance. Points colour a very dark blue and unfortunately showing clear brownish overtones, particularly on the mask and under the paws, which convinced me that he was in fact caramel not blue. Lightly shaded off white body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. A shame he was not entered as a caramel point, as which (had I been judging them) I would have no hesitation in awarding first and BOB.

Blue Point Kitten, Female

1 (BOB N/A) Hill's SOWHYNOT EOWYN 8 Feb 08

A girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, chin ebbs a little, bite scissored under. Eyes of good shape and set though she did open them rather wide when out of the pen, of a pale watery blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a darkish blue and rather brindled, some brownish overtones visible under the paws, lightly shaded body of a good cool-toned colour: insufficient evidence, particularly given the body colour, to persuade me she was other than blue. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Blue Point Neuter, Male

BOB Simpsons GR PR SHERMESE TOO TOO PATOU 4 Apr 07

An impressive lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile though the ridge at the brow seems to have become larger since I last saw him, firm chin with level bite. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Points a slightly dark blue, lightly shaded body, close coat of very good texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Blue Point Neuter, Female

Also considered for BOB Godwin's CH & GR PR GENETTA BLUE HYACINTH 18 Jul 03

A substantial girl of good type. Longish wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, which she did open rather wide, displaying a very good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a darkish blue, lightly shaded body, close coat of a good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Cream Point Neuter, Male

BOB Muir-Taylor's GR PR GLENTHORNE EURWYN 7 Jun 06

A substantial lad of very good type. Long wedge, a little overlong in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin, bite messy but level. Eyes of very good shape, set a fraction straight, needing a little more depth of blue. Very long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Colour a good pale cool toned cream, lightly shaded creamy white body. Close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A girl of good type. Longish almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm slightly shallow chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Medium length substantial body, long legs with neat paws, well tapered tail which needs more length to balance. A girl of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Medium length firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing more length and rather blunt at the tip. Points a dark lilac, body showing moderate shading to back and haunches. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Close between these two girls, but the other's better points tipped the decision in her favour.

Non-Breeders Adult Ex Lilac Point

A handsome lad of good type and sufficient maturity for his age. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Eyes of good shape and set of a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Junior Adult

1 Newman's GLENTHORNE INDIRA (32b1) F

Adult With Best Eye Colour

1 Bowles-Gowdy's MAFDET ROSE ROYCE (32/1) F 8 Nov 07

The only entry in the class but a worthy winner, with a very good depth and brilliance of colour (which her tendency to open her eyes a little wide did serve to display to the full).

Visitors Kitten

1 Knowlson's DRESTOTHRIL VIVA-LA-DIVA (32/1) F 19 Feb 08

A beautiful girl of excellent type, my cat of the day (at least until I met the glamorous Rita at Best in Show). Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set and a very good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a very good seal: clear "M", single ribbon, thumbprints, fainter leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Lightly shaded body, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament though a very vocal girl, excellent presentation.

2 Richards's DEBIKAT GRACIE-MAE (32/1) F 2 Apr 08

A promising girl of good type, unfortunate in coming up against the other two tabby kittens in the classes I judged, both of which were something special. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm deep chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of very good shape and set, opened a little wide when out, of a good depth of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Markings well developed in dark seal: "M" half formed, single ribbon, thumbprints, good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed, almost unshaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation, another who was very vocal.

3 Hill's SOWHYNOT EOWYN (24a) F

Novice Kitten

1 Bowles-Gowdy's MAFDET MCTABBY (32/1) M 11 May 08

An extremely promising kitten with an excellent head. Long even wedge, good width at the top, huge ears held a fraction low and their tips tending to tip over. Small depression above the brow, profile otherwise straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape set rather straight as yet, of a good depth of blue. Medium length body, still to catch up with the head, and cryptorchid as yet, long legs with large paws, balancing length of tail. Markings coming in a darkish seal "M" developing, thumbprints, single ribbon, very faint leg bars, tail two thirds ringed, unshaded body. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Richards's DEBIKAT GRACIE-MAE (32/1) F

2 Richards's DEBIKAT GRACIE-MAE (32/1) F

3 Cook's TIANLEX HAZY FANTAZEY (32b1) F 27 Mar 08

Best Temperament Kitten

A difficult class to judge, with all of the kitten having wonderful temperaments. But …

1 Simpsons SHERMESE MERCEDES (24n) F 9 Apr 08

was the clear winner, continually purring and "making bread".

2 Hill's SOWHYNOT WINTERPRINCE (24a) M

3 Richards's DEBIKAT GRACIE-MAE (32/1) F

Non-Breeders Neuter Ex Lilac Point

1 Janicki's IMP GR PR SHERMESE VERY VERSACE (24) MN 27 Aug 05

A large handsome lad of very good type. Long wedge, a little overlong in the muzzle, good width at the top and a small bump at the back, large ears well set. Small dip in profile, chin a fraction shallow with a tiny beard, bite missing most incisors almost level. Eyes of very good shape , needing a little more depth of blue. Very long substantial body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance the extra body length and with a small irregularity at the tip. Points a good dense seal, body fairly heavily shaded but still showing adequate contrast, close coat, texture mostly good but a little grasy along the spine. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Greeno's PR SHERMESE CARAMIA (24n) FN 11 Mar 05

A girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and depth of blue. Medium length well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour quite a pale lilac-based caramel with sufficient sludgy overtones, very lightly shaded body. Close coat of good texture, excellent presentation and temperament though a little tense.

HHP Classes

AC SH Male

1 Richards's KEVIN THE KOUNTRY KAT MN 1 yr 10 mths

A substantial ginger & white lad, with bright orange eyes and spotless white socks, with a lovely soft plush coat. Well presented, easy to handle, but very alert, and would really have liked to be allowed loose to explore the hall.

AC Rescued Male

1 Hutchinsons BENEDICT MN 4 yrs

A well-built ginger semi-longhair lad with amber eyes, very well prepared with a lovely soft flowing coat. Unfortunately, he had a very retiring temperament, reasonably happy while in his pen though preferring to bury under the blankets, but extremely reluctant to leave its safety.

1 Richards's KEVIN THE KOUNTRY KAT MN

2 Montgomery's TIFFIN FN 1 yr 11 mths

A brown tabby shorthair girl, with neat ears on top of her rounded head, and olive eyes, soft textured coat in excellent condition. Wary at first but ventured a purr when she had relaxed a little.
