Supreme - 22 Nov 2008

Thanks to the show committee for the invitation to judge, my first time at this show after many years stewarding, and quite a different experience. Thanks to my team of stewards, Liz Corps, Angela Pereira and Kat Ross for their assistance and enthusiasm.

Balinese Grand Champion, Male

UKGCC BOB Browning’s GR CH PIPPASTRO HAWKMOTH 5 May 07

An excellent start to the day. A laidback mature fellow of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, ears set marginally low and could for perfection be a fraction larger. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set and a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long sturdy legs with huge paws, tail needs an extra couple of inches to balance. Points of a good sludgy lilac-based caramel. Coat a little short over the shoulders, good length elsewhere, excellent soft silky texture. Plume could be better, well furnished feet, love the ear fronds! Show in excellent condition, superb temperament. Not without imperfections, but they vanish into insignificance in the context of the whole cat – quite the best Balinese I have ever had the pleasure of judging.

Balinese Pre-Champion, Female

1+CC Lloyd’s JAYMAX ELLIE MAY (61dt) 3 Jul 07

A nervous girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, needing a fraction more width at the top. Large ears, well set when relaxed. Profile straight apart from quite a bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes inclined to fullness, but OK when relaxed, of good shape and set, ideally would be a deeper blue. Proportionate body, long legs with large paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Well marked in a deep but slightly dull red, some shading to the body but good contrast nevertheless. Coat a little short over the shoulders, of good length elsewhere, excellent texture except a little harsh along the spine. Well furnished plume, good foot and ear furnishings. Shown in excellent condition, a sweet girl who would improve with more self-belief.

Seal Point Kitten, Female

1 BOB Ridgeway’s HARTZIE GALAXYOFSTARS 22 Apr 08

A promising girl of good type, at seven months I should prefer her a little larger. Long even wedge, good width at the top, ears of very good size well set. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, which she did expand rather when out, of a deep but slightly dull blue. Long slender well muscled , manubrium slightly prominent. Long legs with neat paws, good length of well-tapered tail. Ears a dense warm seal, other points have good warmth but rather brindled, lightly shaded could be a little warmer in tone. Good coat length and texture. Shown in excellent condition, better in the safety of her pen then out of it.

Seal Point / Blue Point Grand Premier, Male

UKGPC BOB Simpson’s GR PR SHERMESE TOO TOO PATOU (24a) 4 Apr 07

A mature lad of excellent type, just a little more masculine-looking than his competitor. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight but raised between the eyes, firm chin and level bite. Very expressive eyes of excellent shape and a good depth of blue. Long firm muscular , long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction and with a small irregularity at the tip. Points a darkish blue, moderate to heavy shading but cool in tone and still good contrast. Close coat of excellent texture. The perfect showman, in excellent condition. Not an easy decision, but in the end his superior type won out over the better colour.

2 Pounds’s IMP GR PR JOMESE JACKTHELAD (24a) 7 Apr 05

A mature lad of excellent type and very good colour. Long wedge, almost even, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, chin firm but slightly shallow, bite level. Eyes of excellent shape and set and good depth of blue. Long firm , long legs with neat paws, tail length almost balances. Colour a good blue, moderately shaded glacial under the shading. Close coat of excellent texture. Very well behaved, shown in excellent condition. He certainly deserved the certificate, just unlucky in his competition today.

1 (UKGPC N/A) Morgan’s GR CH & GR PR ASTRALBLAESE SCHEHEREZADE (24) 28 Apr 99

A girl of good type, wearing her years lightly. Long slightly pinched wedge, needing more width at the top. Ears well set but need to be a fraction larger. Dip in profile, very determined chin, only one incisor left but bite appears undershot. Eyes of good shape and set, pupils very dilated but from what I could see eye colour appears to have good depth of blue. Longish firm , long legs with neat paws, tail a little short for balance. Dense warm seal points, lightly shaded warm toned , coat a little long but of good texture. Excellent temperament, a pleasing girl especially given her age but lacking the style needed for a certificate at this level.

Seal Point Premier, Female

GPC Lodwig’s KINGSOWEN ALLTHATJAZZ 30 Dec 04

A stylish girl of very good type but on rather a short fuse. Well balanced long wedge, well spaced and set large ears. Small dip in profile, very firm deep chin, bite level. Expressive eyes of good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Long muscular , long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch for balance. Dense warm seal points, except the front paws a little brindled. Heavily shaded but still adequate contrast. Coat close and of excellent texture. Shown in excellent condition, handled well apart from a reluctance to display her bite. Well worthy of the certificate.

Seal Point Pre-Premier, Male

PC BOB Copeland’s FLOWERDEW GTX PECTATIONS 2 Feb 08

An extremely stylish youngster, of excellent maturity for his age. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, very large ears of excellent set. Straight profile, firm deep chin, level bite. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set, for perfection colour would be a slightly deeper shade of blue. Very long muscular , long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Dense warm seal points, lightly shaded which ideally would be a little warmer in tone. Close coat of excellent texture. Very well behaved and in top condition.

2 Ellis’s ADSETAM WILLIEWONKA 12 Dec 06

A lad of good type and style. Longish wedge a little broad in the muzzle, well spaced ears of good size and set. Profile with a small dip and rather flat over the forehead, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape and set which he was inclined to open rather wide, of a good depth of blue. Long well fed , long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Points a good dense warm seal, moderately shaded also of a very good warm tone. A charmer, beautifully behaved and in good condition.

Blue Point Premier, Female

1 (GPC N/A) Spence’s PR SCOTMAR CLASSIE LASSIE 9 Apr 07

A neat well balanced girl of good type. Medium length wedge, good width at the top, well set ears which would ideally be a little larger. Profile straight, chin ebbs but bite level. Eyes of good shape, set rather straight, of a good depth of blue. Long firm , long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a darkish blue, especially the tail, lightly shaded . Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent condition, handled well, a pleasing girl but at present lacking that little bit extra needed for a higher certificate.
