Yorkshire County CC - 25 Oct 2008

Thanks to Lynda and the show management team for the invitation to judge, good to see the entry holding up well and the quality high - not to mention the excellent lunch, quite the best on the show scene. Thanks also to Rosie for coming along to steward for, with her customary expertise and care for the exhibits.

Open Classes

Oriental Black Kitten, Male

1+BOB Lloyd's SEIDO SPEEDWAY 13 Apr 08

A well grown lad of good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a slightly dull palish green. Long body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extras fraction to balance. Colour a glossy black not quite sound to the roots, with just the odd white hair on the neck and upper back, coat a fraction long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Jackson's DRUIDSWAY BLACK PANTHER 7 May 08

A handsome lad of good type. Long wedge with a tiny pinch, needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears, small bump at the back of the head. Small dip in profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set of a clear palish green. Long slender body, the manubrium a little prominent at present though I would expect that not to be evident when he muscles up more, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a flossy jet black not quite sound to the roots, a few white hairs, coat a little long but of good texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Oriental Black Kitten, Female

2 (1 N/A) Rice's SEIDO SULTRESS OF SWING 13 Apr 08

An attractive well grown kitten of very good type, appearing initially the likely BOB winner. Longish wedge with a tiny pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile with a very shallow depression above the brow, not a problem at this age. Chin ebbs slightly, bit significantly overshot and also slightly twisted, with the lower jaw offset a fraction to the left and its plane not quite horizontal - confirmed by the duty vet, and my reason reluctantly not to award a first prize. Eyes of good shape and set, of quite a good clear green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour glossy jet black sound to the roots, coat of good length, a little dry in texture with a little dandruff evident. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Red Kitten, Male

1+BOB Debowska's METEXA MENDOSA 29 Apr 08

A well grown lad of good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Well set eyes, of good shape once he relaxed, of a good clear green. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a bright red sound to the roots, showing an acceptable degree of spotted pattern, coat short but a little open, no doubt because the hall was rather cold. Excellent temperament and presentation.

2 Hirst's TOGHAR SERENGETI 18 Mar 08

A lad of good type. Long wedge, a little broad in the muzzle and with a slight pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes a fraction full, well set and of a bright green but unfortunately showing a definite squint which he could not be persuaded to abandon. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a deep rather dull red showing a rather clearer spotted pattern than I should prefer, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Red Kitten, Female

1 Moore's KINKAJEWSDEN ALLANAH 27 May 08

An engaging girl of good type, perhaps slightly on the small side for her age. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, a little short in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape if a fraction full, well set and of a good clear green. Proportionate firm body, long legs with large paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a rich bright red sound to the roots, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A large girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump at the end of the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape, a little full, well set of a vivid green colour, with a fortunately not permanent tendency to squint. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a good fawn mingled everywhere with shades of warm-toned cream, a clear tabby pattern visible over the lower body thanks to the preponderance of cream there. Close coat of superb texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A pretty baby of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a darkish warm cinnamon, well broken everywhere but lacking the brighter shades of red as yet. Still wearing her baby coat as yet, and rather fluffy over the neck, Excellent temperament and presentation.

3 Underwood's TOGHAR KISUMI (37h) 18 Mar 08

A well grown girl of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge, rather full in the muzzle and with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set a little high. Straight profile, chin ebbs a little, level bite. Eyes of good basic shape but rather full, of a good clear green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. AV Oriental Neuter

1 Hutchings's CH WILLHAVETODO HURRYUPHARRY (37a) MN 4 Aug 07

An extremely handsome elegant lad of very good type. Long wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of a clear pale green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. The colour is undoubtedly a darker blue than I should like, and he was not helped by having a blue of excellent colour penned next to him, but I found it within the acceptable range; it was almost sound to the roots. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
