Coventry & Leicester C.C. - 28 Feb 2009

Thanks to Mark and the show management team for the invitation to judge, thanks also to Pat Caney who stood in as steward when Jane Haggar was unable to make it - out first time together, but I would be happy to repeat the experience.

Open Classes

Oriental Cinnamon Neuter Male

1+PC+BOB Lowell's PR SUSPIRIA WILLIAM BECKFORD MN 21 Apr 07
A very large lad of good type. Medium length wedge a little rounded in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set ears which would ideally be a little larger. Profile almost straight, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a clear pale green. Long very well fed body, its girth detracting a little from the desired elegance, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Colour a darkish warm cinnamon not quite sound to the roots, and showing a faint ghost classic pattern on the sides and tail. Coat a little long along the back, but of good texture. Superb temperament, unmatchable for friendliness, excellent presentation.

Cream Point Siamese Adult

1 (CC N/A) Siviter's SIMPLISIAM SPECIAL MENTION M 5 Apr 08
An attractive lad of good type, and of an adequate degree of maturity for his 10 and a bit months, though obviously still adolescent in appearance. Longish wedge with minimal pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm though slightly shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, which would ideally have a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, well tapered tail needs an extra inch to balance. Body lightly shaded along the back. Coat a fraction long, and a little open, but since it was distinctly cold in the morning that was understandable. Points a dark cream, distinctly warm in tone to the hocks and tail, and showing some warmth at the base of the ears. Excellent temperament and presentation. In the available light, there did appear to be a brownish overcast to the points, but I did not place too much trust in that since my experience with this venue is that it always gives that appearance to dilute cats, so I was prepared to accept him as cream point with points which were over-warm in tone - my reason not to award the certificate.

Tortie Point Siamese Adult

1+CC+BOB Mason's CH EPITOME SWEETDREAMS (32b8) F 28 Oct 06
An attractive mature girl of very good type. Long wedge with minimal pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight except for a small bump on the nose, firm slightly shallow chin, level bite. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue, though a little paler at the rims. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch to balance. Points of a darkish lilac-based caramel, well broken everywhere except on the tail with shades of apricot; I would prefer more evidence of deep apricot, but there was some to be seen. Lightly shaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and condition.
2 Mee's KINGSHAVEN HONEYBABE (32b8) F 20 Apr 08
An adolescent girl of goodish type. Longish even wedge needing more width at the top, large ears set in line. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of a good basic shape though rather full, well set and with a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points I think a pale blue based caramel all well broken with shades of apricot. Unshaded cool-toned body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Siamese Neuter

BOB Hocken's PR EPITOME SUNDANCE MN 28 Oct 06
A handsome lad of good type. Long even wedge, not quite enough width at the top for ideal balance, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a slight bump on the nose, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set and a good depth of blue. Long lean body body, which I really would prefer to see carrying more substance, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of an excellent bright red, very lightly shaded warm white body, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Apricot Point Siamese Neuter

1+IC+BOB Crowley & Lambert's JOHPAS RAFAEL MN 9 May 08
A handsome lad of good type, very well developed for one only just adult. Long even wedge, which ideally would be a little broader at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set which he did hold a little wide until he relaxed, I should prefer a little more depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a good warm toned dingy apricot, very lightly shaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Miscellaneous Classes

AV Oriental Spayed Female

1 Lloyd's GR CH SEIDO SEASCAPE (37a) FN 24 Apr 00
An attractive girl of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set ears needing to be a fraction larger for balance. Dip in profile, firm deep chin, remarkably for her age all incisors were still present, but unfortunately revealed her to be definitely undershot. Eyes of an excellent vibrant green. Medium length well fed body, Long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Colour a slightly dark blue showing an impressive degree of soundness, coat close and of good texture. Excellent presentation and temperament, even if a little inclined to wriggle.

Non-Breeders Male Kitten

1 Jones's MOONTHIEF MYSTIC MERLIN (32/1) MN 9 Aug 08
A well grown lad of good type. Head long down to eye level, but then rather short in the muzzle, which imbalance he tried to make look worse by puffing out his whisker pads, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set needing significantly more depth of blue. Well marked in a darkish warm seal, with multiple facial ribbons, clear thumbprints and "M", good leg bars, well ringed tail. Very lightly shaded body, excellent coat for length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Non-Breeders Female Kitten

1 Matthews & Pugh's LOLUJA MISS BEHAVED (32t1) F 23 Oct 08
A very promising baby of very good type, my highlight of the day. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set, and good depth of blue. Well marked in a good warm seal lightly sprinkled with breaks of pale red, a solid line to the top of the tail as yet. Very lightly shaded warm toned body, close coat of excellent texture. Superb temperament, a real charmer, excellent presentation.

AC Junior Neuter (24 Series)

1 Cousins's ROLSEN YEWRWHATZWISHEDFOR (24c) MN 8 Sep 07
A large lad of good type. Long wedge with a slight pinch, needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Profile a little uneven, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with large paws, balancing length of tail could be better tapered. Mask and tail rather a blue-toned lilac, the mask darker than the tail, paws paler but a bit sludgy underneath, all points lacking in pinky tones. Moderately shaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Davies's SATIVA BLUEYEDBELLE (24) FN 9 May 08
A girl of good type but still much too kittenish as yet. Medium length wedge with rather a pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though she was inclined to open them rather wide, of a good depth of blue. Long body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour a dense warm-toned seal except rather brindled round the eyes, Lightly shaded wartoned body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
