Kernow C.C. - 4 Apr 2009

Thanks to Dominic and the show management team for the invitation to judge and their hospitality - my first time in the far South-West - good to see a leisure centre with decent lighting. Not the largest attendance of Siamese and Orientals, but some cats of high quality among them. I had to judge best Oriental adult, and the clear winner was Ch Westgarth Foolsgold (37k), a young lad of excellent type and maturity and with a very good coat, but I have to confess I was also rather tempted by Ch Edingorse Charlotte (37d), a very attractive older girl.

Open Classes

Blue Point Adult

1+CC+BOB Harper's LYNNOX JEZABELLE F 2 Jun 08

A promising girl of very good type, and already looking reasonably mature despite having only just turned adult. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, large ears mostly well set but bonneted at times. Tiny dip in profile, firm very deep chin, bite almost level. Eyes of excellent shape and set, which I would prefer to see a slightly deeper blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points quite a good blue, better than I've seen for a while, though the tail a little darker, lightly shaded body. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tabby Point Adult

BOB Dawe's CH BARBECCO COME STAY WITH ME (32/5) M 18 Sep 06
A mature fellow of good type; ideally for a boy I would prefer to see him a little bigger, but he's certainly well balanced. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a minimal dip, firm deep chin, bite level though missing several incisors. Eyes of good shape set a little straight, needing a little more depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Marked in a good bright red, clear facial markings, reasonable leg bars, tail just half ringed though not as many of the rings complete as I should like to see, lightly shaded body. Close coat of very good texture; excellent temperament and presentation.
1 (CC N/A) Salvidant's SHIMILEETA THINGCALLEDLOVE (32/2) F 29/12/06
>A girl of reasonably good type. Longish rather pinched wedge, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Dip in profile, firm chin, bite slightly over not helped by the outer two incisors being angled forward. Eyes of good basic shape though rather full, set rather too close together and needing more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing distinctly more length to balance. Marked in a fairly good blue, the tail darker rather blurred facial markings though unusually with faint thumbprints, tail nearly completely ringed though most rings incomplete, quite good leg bars. Moderately shaded, close coat of good texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Male Adult

1+CC Dickinson's ALFACENTORY MYSTERS COOLDUDE 19 Apr 08
A talkative lad of good type, who I would prefer to look more masculine, but I thought acceptable at just under a year. Medium length even wedge, needing a little more width at the top, large ears well set. Straight profile, chin ebbs rather, bite level. Long strong body, long legs with neatish paws, balancing length of tail. Eyes of good basic shape though he did open them rather wide when out, needing more depth of blue. Points on the pale side, lightly shaded body. Coat a fraction long along the spine and a little harsh in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Female Adult

1+CC+BOB Webster's JOHPAS GOLDEN SILKA 25 Feb 08
A girl of good type, with an impressive line in invective and distinctly unkeen to be handled. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a little pale, an impression not improved by her very prominent thumbprints, lightly shaded body, coat a fraction long but of very good texture. Excellent presentation.

Debutante Oriental Adult

1 Wills's KASSALIC FORBIDDEN SECRET (29) F 25 Jun 08 <
An attractive girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a most attractive vibrant green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a fractionally dark warm chestnut, showing a faint ghost pattern to the sides and fairly sound. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Trudgeon's ADATESH KIESHA SUGABABE (37) F 10 Oct 07
A girl of reasonably good type. Longish wedge needing rather more width at the top, large ears set in line. Dip to profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape which she was inclined to open rather wide, well set, of a very pale green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, long tail with a tiny irregularity at the tip. Colour a glossy black sound to the roots, cost fractionally long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Non-Breeders Oriental Adult

1 Bransby's LEGSBY ROCKABYEBABY (48 40) F 10 Feb 07
A girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape though slightly full, well set and of a very good depth of blue, which would not disgrace a plain seal point. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Points a good seal, white on face just to the cheeks (giving the false impression of a pinch) running under the chin, white to the throat and the whole chest, extending almost to the top of the neck on the left, almost completely white under the body (just a small patch of nonwhite between the hind legs) and extending a little way up the left side, a white bar to the outer left thigh and entirely white on the inner thighs, all paws with substantial white up the inner thighs, in all just about one third white. Lightly shaded warm white body, coat close and of good texture. Rather shy but handled well; excellent presentation.

1 Lee's CH & IMP GR PR WILLHAVETODO OUIJA BOARD (37p) FN 27 May 06
A beautiful girl, one of the best orientals around, and today showing a reasonable degree of confidence. That apart, my notes are identical to when I last saw her a month ago at Wessex. Congratulations on winning best Oriental exhibit once again.
2 Hacking's ALLIBEAR MICKEYMOUSE (37k) MN 25 Mar 06
A lad of reasonably good type. Long rather pinched wedge, needing a fraction more width at the top, large ears in line. Dip in profile, chin ebbs, bite level. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour quite a good spicy cinnamon showing some ghosting everywhere, fairly sound. Close coat, a little dry in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
3 Vernon's PR ALPACA SUNDANCE SURPRISE (29) MN 30 Jun 02

Junior Oriental Neuter

1 Hutchings's GR PR WILLHAVETODO IMJUSTDIVINE (43e) FN 4 Aug 07
A nervous girl of excellent type, not keen to be out of the safety of her pen nevertheless easy to handle; she preferred the rather long inspection of her coat which was necessary to be back in the safety of her pen. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a clear palish green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a very well mingled black with shades of red, showing little evidence of tabby pattern. The shading is slightly problematic - except along the back, each hair has about two thirds undercolour, one third ticked top colour. On the red parts, the undercolour is the cream colour I should expect, but on the black parts it is significantly darker than the pale toffee stipulated by the standard though with clear contrast with the top colour; in places, the roots were a little grey. Very short coat of excellent texture. A pity she's so shy and does not display herself well; excellent presentation.
2 Clothier's PR KASSALIC ROBIN REDFEET (37d) MN 7 May 07
A lad of good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large eras. Straight profile, chin ebbs, bite level but lacking most incisors. Eyes of very good shape and set of an olive green. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour a good bright red, almost sound to the roots and showing little tabby pattern. Close coat of good texture. Not keen to be handled, but submitted; excellent presentation.
3 Perkins's APRIKAT SUMMERHEAT (62 15d) MN 3 Nov 07

AC Siamese/Balinese Kitten

1 Lodwig's MAFDET MAFIOSO (24) M 4 Oct 08
A handsome well grown lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long weighty body, long legs with neat paws, long tail to balance, unfortunately monorchid at present. Points a dark dense seal which at least on the head I should not like to see grow any darker, lightly shaded warm cream body. Close coat a fraction harsh in texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.
2 POUNDS'S JOMESE MUMBO JUMBO (32/1) M 6 Nov 08
A promising bay of very good type who might have run the winner close if he were not distinctly small for his age. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, large ears held slightly low. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Firm well fed body of medium length, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Well marked in a good warm seal, good facial markings, good leg bars, completely ringed tail. Lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Eyes of good shape and set, needing more depth of blue. Medium length firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Points a dark lilac, unshaded magnolia body. Close coat of good texture. A very argumentative girl but handled well, excellent presentation.

Not that far behind, with much better points colour but unfortunately with very pale eyes and ears carried on the high side.

Deep set eyes of exaggerated shape, set rather straight, needing more depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a darkish warm chocolate, good facial markings and tail rings, fair leg bars. Lightly shaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Nervous but with perfect manners, excellent presentation.

Junior Siamese/Balinese Neuter

1 Mills & Collings's BARBECCO RUBY-STAR (32/5) FN 22 Mar 08
An attractive girl of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin, level bite lacking all upper incisors. Eyes of good shape and set would ideally be a slightly deeper blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Another attractive girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin, bite slightly undershot. Eyes of good shape and set, would ideally be a slightly deeper blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two. Points a dark seal sparsely mingled and the mingling lacking brightness except on the left ear. Moderately shaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament though shy, excellent presentation.
