Supreme - 21 Nov 2009

Thanks to the show committee for the invitation to judge, the show seemed much improved in atmosphere now down to two halls. As always, the lighting was challenging, giving a brownish cast which made it impossible to distinguish between dilute colours and their modified variants; also since it was not terribly bright eye colour was quite difficult to ascertain. Thanks to my team of stewards, Liz Corps, Kat Ross and Antonia Howard for their assistance and enthusiasm.

Caramel Point Kitten, Female

1+BOB Withers's ARTENSA MOON MAIDEN 5 Mar 09
A well-grown girl of very good type. Long almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set though she did open them rather wide when out, of a good deep blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail with a small irregularity at the tip. Good sludgy-toned blue based caramel points, lightly shaded body, close coat just a little harsh in texture. Shown in excellent condition; a born showman out of the pen.
2 Richards's DEBIKAT MAYZI-FANTAZEE 28 Feb 09
Quite a mature looking girl of very good type. Longish wedge with just the hint of a pinch, good width to balance, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm deep chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set, and good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Good lilac-based caramel points showing some sludgy overtones, body almost unshaded, coat a fraction long but of good texture. Shown in excellent condition; handled well though disinclined to relax. Worthy of a first prize, just unlucky in her competition.

Cream Point Kitten, Female

1+BOB Kincaide's LAZIZA FIESTA SIESTA 22 May 09
A nicely balanced youngster of very good type. Medium length well balanced even wedge. Well spaced and set large ears. Straight profile, very firm and deep chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue: the left held slightly closed, looking as though she had received a poke in it. Long firm body, long legs with large paws to grow into, balancing length of tail. Points looked a pale cool-toned cream, unshaded creamy body, coat a little long and fine in texture. Excellent condition; not too happy to be judged but handled reasonably well.

Balinese Kitten, Male

1+BOB Whitby's PIPPASTRO HAWKEYE (61a) 15 May 09
An impressive well-grown lad of very good type. Medium length well balanced wedge, good width, well set large ears. Small dip in profile and slightly angled down from the brow, firm deep chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of good shape and set, for perfection could be a shade deeper in colour. Long firm body, long legs with large paws, tail needing an inch to balance, with a bony spur on one side near the tip - unfortunately, the tail did tend to bend away from it, but the deviation was not fixed. Points a darkish blue, looking a little brown-toned in the hall lighting (but it did that to all the cats, so I ignored it), lightly shaded body. Very promising coat for length - I cannot remember handling a kitten of this age with better - and of a super texture; good plume and well furnished toes and ears, including the beginnings of streamers from the rear of the ears which I find particularly attractive. Excellent condition; placid and handled well.

Balinese Kitten, Female

1 Lloyd's RIDESTAR AFRICAN VIOLET (61dt) 29 Mar 09
A girl of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile and bump on the nose, chin deep but ebbs slightly, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set needing a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with large paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Points marked in quite a good bright red, good facial markings, legs and tail very faint. Unshaded body. Coat a little lacking in length over the upper body, quite good elsewhere, of an excellent silky texture. Plume a work in progress. Excellent condition; handled well and her looks improved immensely when she was persuaded to relax.

Tabby Point Grand Premier, Male

1+UKGPC CH & IMP GR PR SHIMILEETA ROCKYBILBAYOU (32/1) 27 Jun 03
A lad of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, a small bump at the rear which at his age I forgave him, well set large ears. Straight profile, a little flat over the forehead, chin firm if a little shallow, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, difficult to ascertain colour but it appeared OK. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Well marked in darkish seal, lightly shaded warm-toned body, coat close and good texture. Excellent condition; relaxed and handled well. Not the easiest of decisions for a certificate at this level, but on reflection I thought he just made the grade.

Tabby Point Grand Premier, Female

1 (UKGPC N/A) GR CH & GR PR SHIMILEETA WHOSTHATLADY (32/1) 18 Jul 03
A girl of good type but distinctly out of condition. Long wedge with a bit of a pinch, more width at the top needed to balance, well set large ears. Dip in profile, firm chin, level gums. Eyes of good shape and set; colour difficult to tell but appeared OK. Long lightweight body with the spine too prominent, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an inch to balance. Points well marked in darkish seal, lightly shaded body, coat close but a little open. Handled well, even if she gave the impression she would rather be elsewhere.

Tabby Point Premier, Male

1+GPC+BOB Musson's PR MAFDET MCTABBY (32/1) 11 May 08
An impressive lad of very good type and some attitude. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile except when he wrinkled his nose while uttering baseless threats, an affect I found rather charming. Firm deep chin, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good seal, head markings could use a little more clarity to the "M", very good leg bars and tail rings. Almost unshaded warm toned body. Close coat of good texture. Excellent condition; full of language but handled well nevertheless.
2 Gray's PR MEDORAS SIRLAUNCELOT (32/1) 14 Feb 03
A lad of good type, clearly accustomed to the good life. Longish slightly pinched wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Dip in profile, firm chin, bite level. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long weighty body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Marked in darkish seal. Head markings and leg bars very good, rings to just about half the tail. Body quite shaded but contrast still good. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent condition; handled well if not over-impressed with us.

Tabby Point Premier, Female

1+GPC Mills & Collings's PR BARBECCO RUBY-STAR (32/5) 22 Mar 08
An impressive girl of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set needing a touch more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Quite well marked in a slightly pale red but showing some richness of tone, lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent condition, another with attitude (though mostly words). The other serious contender for BOB, but lost out by a whisker.
2 Drimmie's PR NUTROSTAR SUGARCANDY (32/5) 6 May 07
A girl of good type. Long wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin, bite scissored under. Well set eyes of good basic shape but full, rather dominating the face, needing a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Well marked in a good bright red, classic tail rings, lightly shaded body also showing a classic pattern, close coat of good texture. Excellent condition; a little impatient at being handled.

Tabby Point Pre-Premier, Male

1+PC Mills & Collings's BARBECCO REDFORD SHINE (32/5) 22 Mar 08
An impressive mature-looking lad of very good type, perhaps just a little lacking in masculinity. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape, set a little straight, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, almost balancing length of tail. Very well marked points for a red tabby in quite a bright red. Lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent condition, a placid lad who handled well. I see he is the litter sibling of the girl who won the grand class, and that was a surprise to me since they were quite dissimilar in both looks and behaviour.
2 Budden's JOMESE MUMBO JUMBO (32/1) 6 Nov 08
A rather adolescent-looking boy (as he is entitled to be considering his age) of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long slender but muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Well marked in good seal, very lightly shaded body giving excellent contrast, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent condition and handled easily. I was very torn between these two exhibits; in the end he just lost out on maturity but his time will come.
3 Webster's JOMESE JESSE JAMES (32/1) 6 Nov 08
Another rather adolescent-looking boy (again, his right considering his age) of very good type; no surprise this time that, as his birth-date suggested, he is the litter sibling of the previous exhibit since they really looked very similar though his type was slightly less good. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Quite well marked in darkish seal, lightly shaded body, close coat of very good texture. Excellent condition; a sweet-tempered boy who handled well.
4 Jakeman's SHERMESE THELONIOUS (32/2) 16 May 08
A lad of good type, with gorgeous eyes. Longish almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears; head very impressive viewed from the front. However, quite a dip in profile and firm but rather shallow chin so the muzzle lacks depth; bite level. Eyes of excellent shape and set and good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Quite well marked in a darkish blue (no thumprints, not unexpected in a dilute). Moderately shaded body but still good contrast. Close coat of good texture. Excellent condition; handled well.

Tabby Point Pre-Premier, Female

1+PC Goddard's DEBIKAT MARMALADY (32/3) 24 Dec 08
Quite a well-developed girl for her age, of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile angled down from the brow but still giving adequate depth at the muzzle, firm chin with level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Well marked in darkish warm chocolate, very lightly shaded body, coat close but a little harsh in texture. Excellent condition; sweet-tempered and handled well.
