Teesside CC - 29 Aug 2009

My thanks to Veda and the Show Committee for the invitation to judge, always a pleasure at this show and with a entry which while not overlarge was of good quality. The light in the hall I found challenging, even by the standards of leisure centres.

Open Classes

Oriental Grand Premier, Male

GPC Halliday's GR PR TOGHAR MIDNITE MAJIK (37) 18 Oct 07
A handsome mature lad of very good type. Long almost even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a clear pale green. Long well-fed muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Glossy black colour, sound to the roots, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Later on, Best Oriental Neuter (the only nomination) but lost out to the Tortie Adult for overall best..

Siamese/Balinese Grand Premier, Female

GPC Rycraft's GR PR DRESTOTHRIL MISSLETOE (32b1) 3 Jun 06
A large mature girl of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a bump on the nose, firm though slightly shallow chin, level bite still sporting a full set of incisors. Eyes of good shape though she does open them rather wide (but could be persuaded not to), well set and of a very good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch to balance. Points a dark seal all well broken with shades of red, with plenty of deep red in evidence, particularly on the ears, but a little dull in tone. Moderately shaded body but still quite good contrast, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament though a little shy, excellent presentation.

Oriental Tortie Adult

BOB Holdsworth's GR CH BILLSTES TIFFANY (37m) 9 Jul 07
A lovely mature girl of excellent type. Longish well balanced even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of clear pale green. Long substantial body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Colour an attractive mixture of warm spicy cinnamon mingled everywhere with shades of bright red, almost sound to the roots. Coat short and close-lying, of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Later on, Best Oriental Adult (the only nomination) and then by a fair margin my choice for Best Oriental.
1+CC Robertson's ASJOLEX COCOAKISSES (37h) 19 Oct 08
A promising girl of just adequate maturity for her age, a little on the small side but of very good type. Well balanced medium length wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of an olive green. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a slightly dark warm chocolate sound to the roots, broken everywhere albeit fairly sparsely with shades of red, including a pleasing proportion of bright red. Close coat of very good texture, excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Bruno-Grieve's SAITAN PURRUS (37h) 28 Apr 08
Quite a large mature girl of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, chin a little shallow and ebbs, bite slightly over. Eyes of good basic shape but distinctly full, olive green in colour. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour a mixture of rather dull toned reds mingled rather sparsely with darkish warm chocolate, sound to the roots. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament - calling I think; excellent presentation.

Oriental Smoke Adult, Male

1 (CC n/a) Gibbon's SAITAN SULIANINSHADES (42b) 28 Apr 08
A lad of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, well set ears needing to be a size larger. Dip in profile, shallow chin which ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes set a little close together, of fairly good shape though rather full, clear green in colour. Longish well-fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail rather short for balance. Colour quite a good warm chocolate (suprising in a silver cat), very little silver undercolour on the upper back but just about a third elsewhere on the body, breaking through to the surface on head and tail, the tail showing quite clear ringing. Coat short and of good texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Black Neuter, Male

BOB Halliday's GR PR TOGHAR MIDNITE MAJIK (37)

Oriental Cream/Apricot Neuter, Male

1+PC+BOB Atkinson's WESTGARTH STORMCAT (37fn) 9 May 08
An attractive lad of very good type, large but just needing a little more time to achieve full maturity. Long even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top to balance, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set, olive green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with large paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a warm-hued apricot showing the appropriate dingy overtones, coloured to the roots, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Chocolate Point Siamese Adult, Male

1+CC+BOB French's PALMIRA BEAUJANGLES 5 Sep 08
A handsome well-developed lad of good type. Longish wedge, even though he tried to make it look otherwise by puffing out his whisker pads, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape though a fraction small, well set, of a good depth of blue. Long strong well-covered body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a slightly dark warm chocolate with quite a pronounced scuff mark on his nose, very lightly shaded warm ivory body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Chocolate Point Siamese Adult, Female

1+CC Tosun's PALMIRA NERISSA 5 Sep 08
Quite a well-developed girl of good type, it turned out a litter sibling to the boy but not very similar. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, very firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of an outstanding depth of blue which would not disgrace a seal point. Medium length firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points of quite a dark warm chocolate, but with allowance for the lighting I thought just acceptable, a little brindled on the mask. Lightly shaded warm body, close coat of excellent texture. Rather a grumbler but no problem to handle, excellent presentation.

Tabby Point Siamese Adult, Male

1+CC Hirst's TOGHAR BY DESIGN (32/3) 12 Oct 08
A surprisingly mature lad of good type. Long almost even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and somewhat exaggerated set, rather deep set, of a good depth of blue, the left one slightly inflamed probably as a result of someone's errant claw. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Well marked in darkish warm chocolate with good facial markings including double ribbons, good leg bars, tail three quarters ringed. Lightly shaded warm-toned body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tabby Point Siamese Adult, Female

BOB Knowlson's CH DRESTOTHRIL DELIGHTFUL (32/1) 31 Dec 07
A stylish girl of very good type with great initial impact when seen head on, did not quite live up to it when examined in detail. Longish even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile angled down from the brow and not quite straight, chin a little shallow and bite marginally over. Eyes of excellent shape and set but needing a little more depth of blue though by no means pale. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, long tail with a small irregularity at the tip. Marked mostly in good warm seal, though with some ambiguity as to the paws and pads, where the colour might alternatively be an extremely dark chocolate, good "M" and thumbprints, the signle ribbon rather indistinct, good paler leg bars, tail three quarters ringed. Lightly shaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
1+CC Gray & Johnson's TOGHAR MAID TOORDER (32/1) 12 Oct 08
Litter sister to the chocolate tabby point boy, and quite similar, particularly in that she too is surprisingly mature for her tender age, if not to quite the same degree as the boy. Good type. Long even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top to balance, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue. Long firm muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Well marked in good seal, very good facial markings including double ribbons, very good leg bars, tail the disappointment - only half ringed with a lot of agouti. Moderately shaded body, close coat of excellent texture; excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Evans's BILLSTES GYPSY MOTH (32t3) 10 Nov 08
A potentially extremely attractive youngster of good type, but needing time to develop. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good depth of blue, though she did open them rather wide at first. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Quite well marked in darkish warm chocolate lightly broken with shades of red, good facial markings including thumbprints not often seen in a tortie-tabby, leg bars just visible, tail half ringed. Close coat of very good texture, shy but handled well; excellent presentation. I shall watch her development with interest.

Tortie Point Siamese Adult, Female

1+CC+BOB Harvey's ENIGMATIC TAKECHANCEONME (32b1) 19 Nov 08
A girl of good type and adequate maturity for one only just adult. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set which she does open rather wide, of a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of a good seal all broken, with a little bright red in evidence, lightly shaded body, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Siamese Neuter, Male

BOB Thorpe's PR JOHPAS DROPREDGORGEOUS 19 Oct 07
An extremely handsome lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set though they are a little small, of a blue which I should prefer to be slightly deeper. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch to balance. Points of a rather pale red, unshaded body, close coat of excellent texture, excellent temperament and presentation.
Also considered Thorpe's GR PR JOHPAS SUNNY-JIM 16 Mar 06
A large handsome lad of very good type. Longish wedge with a slight pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile apart from a bump on the nose, firm chin, level bite lacking many incisors. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch or two to balance. Points a good bright red, lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

AC Oriental Non-Breeders Kitten

1 Buckley's WESTGARTH DI NIRO (37k) M 8 Mar 09
A handsome and very well developed lad of good type - difficult to believe he was not yet 6 months old. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of very good shape and set of an acceptable green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a slightly dark warm cinnamon, almost sound to the roots, showing faint ghost markings over the body. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Later my choice for Best Oriental Kitten - congratulations.

AC Oriental Breeders Neuter

1 Nelson's GR PR TIDLYPOO JUSTIN TYME (38d) MN 25 Feb 06
A lad of good type. Medium length wedge, a little short in the muzzle and with a small pinch, good width at the top, ears of adequate size set fractionally high. Straight profile, firm though slightly shallow chin, bite level lacking many incisors. Eyes of good shape and set of an pale olive green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Pattern colour a rich red, ground colour paler but not by much which made the markings difficult to pick out, good facial markings, tail only half ringed, body pattern shows a degree of linkage to the sides, and the spine line though definitely not solid could be better broken. Close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

1 Fox's FURRYFACE JAGER (24a) F 6 Jun 08
A pretty girl of good type, a little small but of good substance. Longish even wedge slightly fine in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though she did open them rather wide at first, but OK when she relaxed, of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, though she did try to disguise the length when in her pen, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a good blue, the tail a little darker, lightly shaded body appropriately cool-toned underneath the shading. Close coat of very good texture, excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Mullen's FOXYPAW'S ERICSSON (32fn) M 1 Jun 08
A handsome lad of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite level but lacking the lower incisors. Eyes straight set and of an exaggerated triangular shape which I did find a little off-putting, needing a little more depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch or two to balance. Points quite a good apricot, showing the required dingy overcast, lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
3 Page's ADTAMEAM MOKIMO (32fn) M 16 May 08

Siamese/Balinese Maiden Kitten

1 Cushing & Baldwin's KALOKE KOKO (24) M 25 Apr 09
A lad of fair type. Medium wedge with a pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large ears held flat. Dip in profile, firm deep chin, bite level. Eyes of reasonably good shape but distinctly pale. Longish firm body, long legs with neat paws, well tapered tail needing an extra inch. Points a very dark seal not completely without warmth, but the unshaded body possessing none whatever and looking white. Coat close but harsh in texture. Not at all happy to be handled, excellent presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Non-Breeders Neuter

1 Thorpe's PR JOHPAS DROPREDGORGEOUS (32a) MN
2 Pearson's AMYDAY MERELY A MONARCH (32fn) MN 18 Jul 08
A very handsome lad, unlucky in his competition, of very good type. Long wedge, a little overlong in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a slightly pale apricot with clear brownish overcast, lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Rather shy but easy to handle, excellent temperament.
