Wessex C.C. - 7 Mar 2009

Thanks to Elaine and the show management team for the invitation to judge at a well attended show with some quality exhibits, though I could have done without the extra miles to Swindon - glad it's back at Bracknell next year. Thanks to Rosie for coming to steward.

Open Classes

Oriental Red Adult

BOB Boddy's UK IMP GR CH EDINGORSE CHARLEMAGNE M 15 Jul 04
A handsome lad of excellent type. Long even wedge with a little jowling to distort the first impression, large ears set perhaps a fraction low which he did tend to bonnet. Straight profile, chin rather shallow and ebbs, bite level lacking most incisors now. Eyes of excellent shape and set of a good clear green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a rich warm red with a faint spotted pattern which does not detract; however, this was only on the surface, with the rest of the hair a paler red suggesting his underlying pattern is shaded and I did worry whether he truly fits the requirements of "colour sound to the roots". Coat close and of good texture, signs of treated stud tail at the base. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Tortie Adult

1+CC+BOB Bransby's CWMKATZ CAMEO-BELLADONNA (37e) F 12 Aug 05
A mature lady of very good even type. Strong medium length wedge a little broad in the muzzle, well set large ears. Slight dip in profile and bump on the nose, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though she did open them a little wide when out of the pen, of a clear yellowy green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Colour jet black well mingled with shades of red, with plenty of bright red in the mixture, almost sound to the roots. Coat short and close lying, of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Baxter's SOLARUS ALL THAT JAZZ (37r) F 21 Mar 08
A pretty youngster of good type which she tried to disguise when examined. Longish even wedge needing more width at the top to balance, very large ears well set when she could be persuaded to relax. Straight profile, firm rather shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of basically good shape and set though she did hold them very wide when taken out and even when relaxed they were fuller than I would ideally like, of a good clear green. Long lithe body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour extremely attractive, a subtle mingling of pale rosy mushroom and shades of warm cream, fairly sound. Excellent short coat, of wonderful texture. Excellent presentation and temperament, a real charmer.

Havana Neuter

1+PC+BOB Bright's PR MIDAMYST SPARKLEMAKER MN 5 Nov 06
A handsome lad of excellent type, if of a rather retiring disposition. Long even wedge, good width at the top, large ears held slightly low. Straight profile, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set though of a rather paler shade of green than ideal. Long firm muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a distinctly dark chestnut though within the bounds of acceptability, warm in tone and sound to the roots, coat glossy and close-lying. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Foreign White Neuter

1+PC+BOB Davidge-Evans's BURNTHWAITES BOBY DAZZLER MN 19 May 08
A friendly lad of good type and adequate maturity for his age - at first sight curled up in his pen he did seem rather diminutive for an adult, but once out he dispelled that impression. Long even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, large ears well set. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape set rather straight, needing a little more depth of blue. Long surprisingly weighty body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail with a tiny irregularity at the tip. Close snowy white coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Blue Neuter

1+PC+BOB James & James Hart's ADATESH ERIC MN 24 Nov 07
A rather nervous lad of reasonably good type, who did himself no favours in his initial reaction to being disturbed from his hiding place under the blankets - ears up, eyes wide. Given some time to realize things were not quite so awful, he did improve. Longish wedge with a small pinch, more width needed at the top, large ears set in line (as we were eventually able to see). Well set eyes of quite good shape though a little full, of a clear slightly yellowy green. Straight profile, firm slightly shallow chin, bite scissored over. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a slightly dark blue of a good degree of soundness, close-lying and of good texture. Handled well, excellent presentation. Not an easy decision, but in the end I decided he just merited a certificate.

An attractive girl of good type, a little on the small side. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite.
