Thanks to Pat, Dorothy the show committee for the invitation to a most enjoyable show and one which, seeing that once again it clashed with the Supreme, had a surprisingly good entry. Thanks also to Joan for making the long journey specially to steward for me; she would be difficult to better and I regret that in the near future she is likely to have limited availability as she progresses to higher things.

Open Classes

Oriental Imperial Grand Champion, Male

1 (IGCC N/A) Linton's GR CH SIARUNG THEFUTURE ISORANGE (37fn) 2 Aug 08
A large lad of very good type. Long even wedge needing a little more width between the well set large ears. Straight profile, firm slightly shallow chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though a little full when out of the pen, the colour a peculiar rather bluey green. Long firm muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Colour a rich apricot showing clear brownish overtones, sound to the roots and showing a light spotted pattern. Coat a little long and a little greasy down the spine though excellent elsewhere. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Oriental Imperial Grand Champion, Female

IGCC Linton's GR CH SHADOWSQUAD STARDUST (37g) 10 Mar 07
A mature girl of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from quite an obvious hard bump in mid-nose, firm deep chin, bite level. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set, olive green in colour. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour a darkish blue with broken with shades of cool cream. Coat a fraction long but of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Imperial Grand Premier, Male

A strong class, in which I would have been happy to award a certificate to any of the three cats.
IGPC Fullerton's GR PR STARAPPEAL SCENESTEALER (62 43a) 2 Oct 08
A large lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, to be honest a little overlong for my personal preference, good width at the top, well set ears of a good size. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of an olive green. Long strong body, long legs with large paws, tail almost of a length to balance. Coat of very good length everywhere and of a superb soft silky texture, frilling a little round the neck, very profuse to the underbody, very well furnished ears and paws, good plume. Colour a darkish blue, quite heavily shaded with the oatmeal undercolour reaching at most two thirds of the way up the hair shaft, but devoid of any surface pattern except on the extremities. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Res Ellis's IMP GR PR MYLYNN MOONSHADOW (62 20) 9 Dec 06
Another large lad of excellent type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears which would ideally be slightly larger. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set of a clear pale green. Long well fed muscular body, long legs with surprisingly neat paws, tail needs an extra inch to balance. Coat a little shorter than the ideal over the upper body but good length elsewhere, texture excellent, very well furnished ears and paws, very good plume. Marked in jet black, sound to the roots, the ground colour quite a good warm bronze but grey at the roots, Good scarab up to mid-forehead and then rather solid, the spine line likewise. Other aspects of his pattern well-defined, with good facial markings, tail rings, and quite the best spotting to the body I have seen in a longhair. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Also considered Anderson's GR PR FIORDILISO EARL GREY (37a) 21 Jun 08
A large lad of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile angled down slightly from the brow, firm slightly shallow chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set of a clear pale green. Long extremely well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch to balance and rather thick at the base. Colour quite a dark blue, completely sound and free of ghost markings, just a trifle long but close-lying and of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Champion, Male

GCC Gibbons's GR CH RICHDALE LONE RANGER (24) 22 Feb 07
A lad of very good type, a little short of the masculinity I should prefer at his age. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm slightly shallow chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of very good shape and set of quite a good depth of blue. Body slender but muscular, a little short for ideal balance, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour is his outstanding feature, and the reason why I had no hesitation in awarding the certificate: the points a rarely seen excellent warm seal, and the body an even rarere excellent warm cream, very lightly shaded for the most part, moderate shading over the head. Evidence of treated stud tail at the base. Coat a fraction long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 (Res N/A) Brownrigg's CH CHAPELROSE HOLY MOSES (32fn) 25 Jun 09
A large lad of very good type and good maturity. Long wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes a little small but of good shape, set a little straight, of a deep but slightly greeny blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points of a very good sandy-toned apricot, the body unfortunately heavily shaded and giving poor contrast to the points, my major reason not to award a certificate at this level. Coat close, a little harsh in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Champion, Female

GCC Mason's GR CH EPITOME SWEETDREAMS (32b8) 28 Oct 06
An attractive mature girl of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight except for a small bump on the nose, chin ebbs slightly, level bite lacking many incisors. Expressive eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Points of a fairly pale lilac-based caramel, rather sparsely broken everywhere with shades of pale apricot, but a deeper apricot visible at the ear bases. Lightly shaded off-white body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and condition.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Premier, Male

GPC Howard & Hanby's GR PR AMARRICHI PRICELESS PRINCE (24) 15 Mar 07
An large lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite marginally over. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance. Points a dense warm seal, lightly shaded warm-toned body, coat quite short, close-lying and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. I was glad to be able to award today the certificate which I would have been happy to award on earlier occasions had there not been better cats in competition.
2 (Res N/A) Webb's PR PIPPASTRO BOLSHOI (61n) 7 Jun 08
A rather shy but handsome lad of very good type. Long wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile a little flat over the forehead, firm deep chin, level bite, the nose does protrude a bit beyond the otherwise vertical line at the front of his head. His eyes are well set and of basically good shape though he does open them very wide when out of the pen, and even when relaxed they are fuller than I should ideally like. Unfortunately, the wide-eyed look does draw attention to his eye colour, which definitely needs more depth of blue, and verges on the pale. While I have in the past been persuaded that it was just adequate to allow award of an ordinary certificate, at the higher level required for a grand I could not come to the same conclusion. Long well-fed body, long legs with large paws, tail needing an extra couple of inches to balance. Points a good browny-toned lilac-based caramel, body almost unshaded. Coat of very good length and excellent texture, very good foot and ear furnishings and of course the attractive streamers from the back of his ears. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Also considered Shore's PR ROYSTERER ROYAL-DAZZLE (32/9) 20 Feb 09
A lad of good type. Long even wedge, needing more width at the top to balance, large ears set in line. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes distinctly small and tending towards the round in shape, of a reasonable depth of blue. Long slender but muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Markings not at all well defined in coolish mushroom, the problem to mask and tail being that the ground colour is not well contrasted - in fact, I did wonder whether he might be a self cat with heavier than usual ghost markings. Very lightly shaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Premier, Female

1 (GPC N/A) Webster's CH & PR NANPEMA TANZANITE-INBLUE (24a) 13 Feb 09
A petite girl of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape set a little straight, needing more depth of blue. Long slender muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch. Points quite a dark blue, moderately shaded cool-toned body still giving adequate contrast, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. I would happily have awarded an ordinary certificate, but as yet I feel she lacks the extra required at the higher level.

Oriental Lilac Adult.

1+CC+BOB Corby & Dolan's CH IKISHIROO CASCADE KIKIMA F 9 Sep 09
An adolescent girl of good type and of good maturity for her age. Medium length wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set of a clear paleish green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour quite a good lilac coloured to the roots, though a slightly lighter shade at the roots. Coat close and of good texture; excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Whiting's MERRYTAIL SONG OF SONGS 4 Jan 09
A more mature girl of good type. Longish wedge width a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set though a little full, of an olive green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Colour a darkish lilac fairly sound, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Seal Point Adult, Male

1+CC Gillen's OWAISSA MASTER CRAFTSMAN 7 Dec 09
Initially, this cat was in my book with a birth-date of 19-3-10, though he appeared to be surprisingly well-developed for that; on checking with the entry form, that appeared correct and he was removed from the class (and I believe judged as a kitten). However, much later in the day it was found to have been the exhibitor's error and I rejudged the class. A lad of good type, with good maturity for his age. . Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, while I would prefer more depth of blue I found them acceptable - possibly he was lucky in this, since when I had looked at him from outside the pen earlier in the day I was not so sure. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a good warm seal, lightly shaded body would preferably be rather warmer in tone, though he suffered by the comparison to his neighbour. Close coat of good texture, excellent temperament and presentation.

AV Oriental Limit Kitten

1 Fullerton's PIPPASTRO AMAZIN' GRAYS (62 43ps) F 5 Jul 10
An extremely promising kitten of excellent type - and just the right size for my pocket, I noted. Strong medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a good green. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs and extra fraction. Excellent coat qualities for her age, good length already and super soft texture. Pattern colour blue-based caramel mingled with pale apricots, the paw pads definitely confirming her as caramel. Clear silver undercolour in places halfway up, but in others the pattern goes almost to the root, a fairly clear spotted pattern showing on the sides, I think the jury is out on whether she is actually shaded but at her tender age I think that is acceptable. Wonderful temperament, excellent presentation.
