Lilac Point Siamese CS - 21 August 2010

Thanks to Barbie, Rachel and the Show Management team for my invitation to judge at this friendly show - such a pity that it shared with many others this year the problem of a much diminished entry, though what was there was mostly of high quality. Thanks also to Joan Pounds who came specially to steward for me - as ever, a great help. I have to mention the winner of the Household Pet section which I as referee had to choose when the panel disagreed - he was Booboo, a high white blue bicolour Ragdoll, with a wonderful temperament and above all a beautifully prepared coat with not a hair out of place.

Open Classes

Siamese/Balinese Grand Champion Male

1 (GCC N/A) Ridgeway's CH HARTZIE BLAZE-OF-GLORY (24k) 5.Jun.09
A lad of good type, but looking rather innocent. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile a little flat over the forehead, firm though slightly shallow chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of colour for a cinnamon. Long well fed body, long legs with largish paws, tail needing more length and blunt at the tip. Points of a very good warm cinnamon, good warm ivory body just lightly shaded over the hips. Close coat of excellent texture; excellent temperament and presentation. At the moment he loses out on lack of maturity at this level.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Champion Female

GCC Reed's CH HELSBELS CHUCHOTEZ-LE (32a) 11.Sep.09
An attractive girl of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, large ears which she does often hold rather low. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape though a fraction full, well set, of a good depth of blue. Long body which could do with more weight and muscle tone, long slender legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a good bright red, on the paws as well though of course much paler there. Coat a little long but of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Seal Point Kitten Female

1+BOB Bowles-Gowdy's MAFDET SEAL THEDEAL (24) 8.May.10
A very promising baby of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a tiny depression above the brow, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape, set straight at present, of a very good depth of blue. Proportionate length of body, long limbs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points of a good warm seal all rather brindled, body a little muddy in colour as yet, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation - has a bright future I think.

Blue Point Neuter Male

1+PC+BOB Simpson's IMP GR PR SHERMESE TOO TOO PATOU 4.Apr.07
An extremely handsome lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile raised at the brow, firm chin and level bite. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Very long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance and with a small irregularity at the tip. Points a darkish blue, moderately shaded body but still good contrast,, coat a fraction long but of excellent texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Tabby Point Neuter Male

1+PC Jakeman's PR SHERMESE THELONIOUS (32/2) 16.May.08
A lad of good type, looking lovely head on. Medium length almost even wedge, good width at the top, large ears held a fraction low. In profile has quite a dip and a rather shallow though firm chin so the muzzle lacks depth; bite level. Eyes of very good shape though a little full, well set and of a good depth of blue. Long elegant body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Colour a darkish blue, all elements of his pattern could really do with better definition - blurred "M", ribbons just hinted at, no thumbprints as is not unexpected, tail two thirds ringed but the rings blurred at the base, faint leg bars. Lightly shaded body , close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Freeman's KRISTIKATS SIMPLYBLUE (32/8) 17.Apr.09
A large lad of good type but looking rather kittenish still. Long wedge a little fine in the muzzle, needing slightly more width at the top, large ears set in line. Small dip in profile, chin has good depth but ebbs rather. Eyes of good shape though a little full, well set, needing a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good sludgy blue-based caramel, "M" slightly blurred, thumbprints faint but present, good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed but with a rather solid tip. Lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Tabby Point Neuter Female

1+PC+BOB Freeman's SHERMESE KRISTISTRIPES (32/1) 19.Jun.09
A girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width between well set ears which would ideally be a little larger. Tiny dip in profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape though a little full, well set and of a good depth of blue though they would ideally be a little brighter in tone. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Well marked in a good seal though the leg bars could be clearer and the tail was only just half ringed. Good warm body colour showing light shading, Close coat mostly of good texture but a little harsh on the lower back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Non Breeders AC Siamese ex Lilac Kitten

1 Sewell's MAFDET FIGARO (32/1) M 8.May.10
A promising hyperactive baby of very good type. Long wedge, good width at the top, large ears which he did hold a little low but that's not a problem at this age. Profile straight apart from a tiny depression above the brow as yet, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape set a little straight, needing a little more depth of blue. Proportionate body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Markings developing in a good warm seal, the "M" partly formed and leg bars coming, other markings good. HHP Miscellaneous Classes

Radius Adult / Kitten

1 Brock's NUTMEG (Golden Tabby LH) F 5 mths
Pretty baby of Persian type with the most enormous whiskers. Lovely silky texture to coat. Extremely friendly, certainly knows how to sell herself, excellent presentation.
2 Millett's MC SPICE (Black & White SH) FN 14 yrs
At the other end of the age spectrum, though by no means looking his age. Jet black coat with pristine white socks and bib, bright green eyes, soft coat. Very confident and calm to handle, excellent presentation.
3 Fremont's MC ALFIE (Black Silver Tipped SH) MN 4 yrs
A large lad of British type, broad cheeks and neat ears, green eyes, coat shedding hairs a bit, handled patiently.

Visitors Adult / Kitten

1 Miller's GMC KLEO-KATRA MILLER (Blue Tortie & White SH) FN 5 yrs
A Sphynx of excellent temperament, eager to be handled, with a distinctive tail. In lovely condition, though I did initially find the feel of a hot-water bottle on a summer's day a little disconcerting (the first Sphynx I have handled).
2 Toth's MC ROMEO (White SH SH) MN 2 yrs 9 mths
A large well fed lad. Very white plush coat though with a few lose hairs which I put down to the heat, large amber eyes. Rather wary but he handled well.
3 Passfield-Taylor's GMC PIXI (Tabby & White SH) FN 4 yrs
Mackerel tabby with a lot of white, including a distinctive streak down her back. Soft coat, again shedding slightly. Not overkeen on being handled.
