Trans-Pennine Oriental & Siamese CC - 5 Dec 2010

A show held in interesting conditions, at which I was called in to judge at a couple of days notice, when two of the intended judges found themselves stranded - I apologise to exhibitors disappointed by the substitution. With another judge also dropping out subsequently, and an excellent entry, it made for a busy day specially since Joan wanted to close the show very early so that the intrepid exhibitors (surprisingly few of whom were absent) could at least start their journey home in daylight. I'm afraid my comments on side classes are as a result brief indeed. Thanks to Richard who handled everything well, including the odd tetchy one, sorry it was all rather rushed. Congratulations to Joan and Barry for their apparently unflappable management of the show.

Open Classes

Siamese/Balinese Imperial Grand Premier, Male

A pleasure to judge an Imperial class where there were three exhibits (the third another red point, LITTLEFEAT DISTANT THUNDER, reported on below) to whom I was prepared to give an Imperial certificate without hesitation. Only one could win, of course, and the unlucky third went certificateless.
IGPC Smout's GR PR KAMIK FIREKRACKA (32a) 18 Jul 08
A very handsome lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, very well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set of a good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a bright red but a little paler than I would ideally like, very lightly shaded body, coat a fraction long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Res Pounds's IMP GR PR JOMESE THEJOKER (32fn) 26 Jul 04
A large lad of very good type. Long wedge, just a fraction overlong in the muzzle, good width at the top and beautifully set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite now lacking all incisors. Eyes of excellent shape and set and good depth of blue. Long very well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail almost long enough for balance. Points of an excellent hot dingy-hued apricot, body quite shaded though still giving more than adequate contrast. Very short coat, close lying and of super texture. Excellent presentation, wonderful temperament, the perfect showman. Very difficult to separate him and the other red boy, each with their different tiny imperfections; in the end his colour made the difference.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Premier, Female

1 (GPC N/A) Webster's CH & PR NANPEMA TANZANITE-INBLUE (24a) 13 Feb 09
Rather a small though well balanced girl of good type. Medium length slightly pinched wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Tiny dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape set a little straight, appearing to have a good depth of blue. Longish slender muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch. Points quite a dark blue, moderately shaded body leaving adequate contrast, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. I saw her just a month ago in a Grand class and I fear I still think she needs a bit extra to justify a certificate at this level.

Seal Point Adult, Male

1+CC+BOB Rice's ARTENSA TUMBLING DICE 2 Mar 10
A large lad of good type and very good maturity considering he was only just adult. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing a fraction a little thick at the base. Points a good warm seal, lightly shaded warm-toned body, close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Gillen's OWAISSA MASTER CRAFTSMAN 7 Dec 09
A lad of good type and of good maturity for his age. Longish even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, which I would prefer to be a little deeper blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction. Points a good warm dense seal, lightly shaded body just a little cooler in tone than I should prefer. Close coat of very good texture, excellent temperament and presentation.

Chocolate Point Adult, Male

1+CC+BOB Underhill's REYNARDS MISTER BINKS 19 Nov 09
A handsome lad of very good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile a fraction raised at the brow and flat over the forehead, chin ebbs slightly, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, long tail to balance. Points a little on the dark side but with good warmth, body lightly shaded along spine and over the hips. Close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Seal Point Kitten, Male

1+BOB Hall's FURRYFACE MARIO LS 27 Aug 10
A very promising baby, just old enough to be shown. Medium length wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears which he does hold a little low at times. Small bump on the nose, very shallow depression above the brow which I do not think a problem at this age, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape set a little straight, of a good depth of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with large paws, tail on the short side. Points of a darkish warm seal, body rather muddy as yet, still wearing his fluffy kitten coat. Excellent temperament if a little worried, excellent presentation.
2 Clarke's FOXYPAWS BENTLY 19 Jul 10
A charming and promising kitten of very good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, large ears held fractionally high. Eyes of good basic shape though on the full side, needing a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with large paws, very long stringy tail. Points a slightly cool toned seal showing a little brindling, very lightly shaded body which also ideally would be a little warmer in tone. Coat close and of good texture. Superb friendly temperament, excellent presentation.

Seal Point Kitten, Female

2 (1 N/A) Mullineaux's KYOMI SEALED WITH AKISS 5 Aug 10
An attractive baby of good type. Medium length wedge, a little short in the muzzle, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, slightly shallow pugilistic chin, bite unfortunately distinctly undershot. Eyes of good shape though a little full, well set but needing a little more depth of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance and with a deviation at the tip. Points of good seal, lightly shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Despite the placing dictated by her problems I found much to like about her.

Tabby Point Kitten, Female

1+BOB Hall's FURRYFACE MATOAKA (32/1) 24 Aug 10
An impressively grown baby of good type. Longish wedge with a tiny pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a tiny depression above the brow, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape set a little straight, needing a fraction more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with fine paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Tabby markings in pale warm seal very well developed for her age, good thumbprints, "M" mostly formed, multiple ribbons, good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Lightly shaded body, close of good length and texture. Excellent temperament though inclined to whinge, excellent presentation.
2 Hall's FURRYFACE SACAJAWEA (32/1) 24 Aug 10
Another promising baby of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile with a small dip below the brow and very shallow depression above, neither much of a problem at this age. Firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch. Markings developing in good warm seal but not as good as her sister's: good thumbprints, "M" half formed, one and a bit ribbons, leg bars coming, tail half ringed. Lightly shaded body, coat of good length and texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
3 Cassar Simmonds's SHIMILEETA SPARKLINTHERAIN (32/1) 30 Jun 10
A girl of good type a little small for her age. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though she does open them rather wide at times, the blue could do with more depth. Medium length firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a darkish seal, good thumbprints, "M" half formed, single ribbon, leg bars very faint, tail two thirds ringed but with a lot of agouti in the rings. Unshaded body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Kitten, Male

1+BOB Webb's LITTLEFEAT TEXAS TWISTER (32a) MN 5 Mar 10
A lad of excellent type, though since he is nearly adult he would ideally look a little more masculine. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes with a haughty expression, of excellent shape and set and good depth of blue. Long firm muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a good bright red, unshaded warm body, close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation

Blue Point Neuter, Female

1+PC+BOB Webster's CH NANPEMA TANZANITE-INBLUE

Red Point Neuter, Male

BOB Smout's GR PR KAMIK FIREKRACKA
Also considered Glaubitz's GR PR LITTLEFEAT DISTANT THUNDER 29 May 09
Rather a wriggly lad of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width between well set large ears. Straight profile a little flat over the forehead, firm though slightly shallow chin, level bite lacking many incisors. Eyes of very good shape and set though a little deep set, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch for balance. Points a bright red though just a fraction paler than I would ideally like, lightly shaded body, coat fractionally long but of good texture. Excellent presentation, rather retiring but handled well.

Miscellaneous Classes

AC Siamese/Balinese Breeders Adult

1 Stokes's LITTLEFEAT ROSARITA (32a) F 14 Nov 07

AC Siamese/Balinese Non-Breeders Adult

1 Rice's ARTENSA TUMBLING DICE (24) M
2 Bauerfeind's CH PALMIRA MARCUS (32/3) M 19 Jun 09
A muscular lad of good type, attractive though lacking a little in elegance, he would insist on fluffing out his coat. Well marked in very good chocolate.
3 Bauerfeind's TOGHAR LUCY LOCKET (32/1) F 16 Jul 09
A girl of good type. Longish slightly pinched wedge, good eye shape but blue needs to be deeper. Quite well marked in dark seal though rather short of distinct tail rings.

AV Junior Adult, Female

A girl of good type. Longish even wedge, good eye shape quite well marked in good seal, coat a little long and open.
2 Davies's BURNTHWAITES CAUSINASTORM (35) F 22 Jan 10
A girl of good type, of quite good maturity for her age but on the small side. Lovely even head, with eyes of good shape, set and a good blue.
x2 Armitage's METEXA MARITZA (37k) F 31 Jan 10
A girl of good type, attractive eyes of good green. Colour a little dark though warm, nearly sound, coat of super texture.
3 Bauerfeind's TOGHAR LUCY LOCKET (32/1) F
x3 Corby & Dolan's IKISHIROO CASCADE KIKIMA (29c) F 9 Sep 09

AV 3-5 months Kitten

1 Bauerfeind's TOGHAR TOTAL ECLIPSE (37) F 14 Jun 10
A girl of very good type, just slightly small for her age. Lovely even head, with good green eyes, bite slightly under but I thought allowable at her age. Long body, jet black sound coat.
2 Gibbins's KARAMUSHI MOTHERSSECRET (32b1) F 1 Jul 10
Well grown attractive girl of good type. Medium length even wedge with ears which she tends to bonnet. Good seal points mingled with plenty of bright red. Excellent coat texture.
3 Smout's ROZANDEN BHICTORIA (37) F 14 Jun 10
A girl of good type, head long but a little narrow. Good eyes of two-tone green, long body, dense black coat a little unsound.

AV 6-9 months Kitten

A class of high quality, as witness the number of extra thirds, but with the first two standing out.
1 Ellis's TINTALLY JUST THE TICKET (24n) M 15 May 10
An outstanding blue-based caramel lad, of great strength and masculinity which would have been impressive in a young adult but he's not yet 7 months! Long well balanced head, well developed sludgy points. My choice for best Siamese kitten and ultimately for overall best exhibit.
2 Webb's LITTLEFEAT TEXAS TWISTER (32a) MN
3 Brownrigg's BECKSTAR FANTASIA (37e) F 9 Apr 10
An attractive well grown girl of very good type. Lovely even medium length head with well shaped eyes of good green, long body with attractive mingling of jet black and shades of red.
x3 Webster's NANPEMA FLAMENCO (37d) MN 8 Mar 10
A handsome well-grown lad of very good type, of a lovely rich red colour showing a pattern which most spotted tabbies would envy, which does detract a little since he is a self, but on the other hand it's allowed for by the SOP.
x3 Stokes's LITTLEFEAT POWDERFINGER (32b1) F 5 Mar 10
An attractive girl of very good type, long even head, unfortunately rather a bump at the rear which demoted her a place or two. Very good eyes though I should prefer their colour deeper. Points well broken with enough of the brighter shades of red in evidence.

AV Novice Kitten

Another class with plenty of quality
1 Hall's FURRYFACE MATOAKA (32/1) F
2 Hall's FURRYFACE SACAJAWEA (32/1) F
3 Rehman's KYOMI KALYANI (37n) F 5 Aug 10
A promising baby of good type. Medium length even head, attractive eyes of a good green. Lilac based caramel with just a hint of the brown overtones as yet, lovely coat.
x3 Hall's FURRYFACE MARIO LS (24) M

AV Limit Kitten

1 Brownrigg's BECKSTAR FANTASIA (37e) F
2 Goddard's MYLYNN MISCHIEFMAKER (62 18) M 11 Jul 07
A promising well grown young kitten of very good type; a little feisty, perhaps because his lunch had been rudely interrupted. Lovely head, eyes slightly full, large feet as usual. Promising coat length and excellent texture, markings quite good as longhair tabbies go with not too much silver at the base.
3 Smout's ROZANDEN BHICTORIA (37) F

AV Grand Premier

1 Pounds's IMP GR PR JOMESE THEJOKER (32fn) MN
2 Glaubitz's GR PR LITTLEFEAT DISTANT THUNDER (32a) MN

Siamese/Balinese Breeders Neuter

1 Smout's GR PR KAMIK FIREKRACKA (32a) MN
2 Webster's CH & PR NANPEMA TANZANITE-INBLUE (24a) FN

Oriental Visitors Neuter

1 Nelson's GR PR TIDDLYPOO JUSTIN TYME (38d) MN 25 Feb 06
A large lad of good type. Markings a good red contrasting well for once with the paler ground colour - his pattern in consequence looking better than I have ever seen it before.
2 Thirsk's PR TENAJ BRONZE MYSTIC (29) MN 27 Mar 09
A large lad of good type, head a little narrow with good eye colour. Colour quite dark though warm, and rather unsound today, very good coat qualities.
3 McDermand's CH LORINMAILIE REGAL RUMPUS (37e) FN 10 Jan 06
A girl of good type, medium length even head, eyes though of good shape a little full and yellowy green in colour. Long rather heavy body, coat dense black mingled with lots of bright red, excellent texture.
