Bristol & District Cat Club - 5 May 2012

Thanks to Elaine and Lisa for the invitation to judge at this excellent and well-attended show: at a new venue but one sharing the problems of most sports centres as far as assessing colour is concerned.

Open Classes

AC Siamese Grand Premier Female

IGPC Lodwig's CH & GR PR MAFDET ULTRAVIOLET (32b8) 23 May 08
A girl of very good type who did herself no favours by her extreme nervousness, but I did finally get her to relax which improved her appearance immeasurably. Medium length even wedge, good width to balance, well set large ears. Straight profile though angled down somewhat from the bridge of the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, for perfection I should prefer a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra fraction to balance. Points a good dingy-hued lilac based caramel mostly well broken with shades of apricot, with some of the deeper shades in evidence. Lightly shaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent presentation.

AC Oriental Premier Male

1 (GPC N/A) Richards'S PR TOGHAR TOBEORNOTTOBE. (43) MN 27 Jan 11
A lad of very good type unfortunately let down by his pattern today. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Pattern colour black, ground rather lacking warmth. He shows a fairly clear surface spotted pattern, even if it is rather mingled with agouti; the pattern is partially correct for shaded, in that the pattern colour is lifted to the top third of the hair, but unfortunately the bottom third is a dark grey colour which is definitely not correct and for this reason I did not feel able to award the certificate. Coat short and close-lying, of excellent texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Tortie Adult

1+CC+BOB Lee's BARBECCO BLUE-JEANS (37p) F 10 Jun 11
A girl of very good type, with some growing up still to do but of very good maturity for her age. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set which she does have a tendency to open a little wide, of a clear pale green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a dark blue-based caramel with adequate sludgy overtones, mingled with shades of warm apricot, sound to the roots. Coat short and close lying, of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Considered for BOB Webster's CH HEMLOCK BLACK BETTY (37e) F 12 Jul 10
A mature girl of good type. Longish even wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a pale olive green. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour jet black mingled with shades of pale red, sound to the roots. Coat short and close-lying and of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Cinnamon Adult Male

1 (CC N/A) Siviter's MICHANT CINNAMON START 23 Sep 10
A lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile apart from a small bump on the nose, firm slightly shallow chin, bite unfortunately over. Eyes of very good shape and set of a clear green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour quite a dark warm cinnamon, coloured to the roots and free of ghost pattern, coat a fraction long but close-lying and of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Cinnamon Adult Female

BOB McDermand's GR CH BARBECCO TARIA 27 Sep 09
An attractive girl of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a clear pale green. Long well fed muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour a good warm cinnamon sound to the roots, free from ghost markings, coat short, sleek, close lying and of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Longhair Adult

1+CC+BOB Saunders' NATHIFA NEVERSAYNO (62 43fs) M 4 Jun 11
A lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a pale olive green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Pattern colour quite a dark cream and showing a hint of warmth, clear silver undercolour lifting the colour to the top quarter. His coat was the snag, definitely needing more length, particularly to the back and sides, though it had a superb soft silky texture; given his youth I was after some hesitation prepared to forgive this. It did frill a little round the neck, and he had good ear furnishings; tail fairly well plumed. Excellent presentation, rather apprehensive and unwilling to relax.
2 Tasker's LORICHA BUNDOOK BOY (62 43s) M 29 Dec 09
A lad of good type who really needs to look a little more masculine. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears which would ideally be a little larger. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Pattern colour jet black, the undercolour covering the bottom two thirds, but rather grey rather than the clear silver desired. Coat of good length but rather harsh in texture over the upper back. Quite tarnished to muzzle and all paws. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Havana Kitten

1 (BOB N/A) Richards' TOGHAR LOUIS VUITTON MN 21 Aug 11
A large lad of good type. Long even wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile other than a small bump on the nose, firm chin, bite undershot sadly. Eyes of very good shape and set of a clear palish green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a darkish warm chestnut sound to the roots but showing some ghost spotting on the flanks. Coat short and close-lying, of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Foreign White Kitten

1+BOB Aggett's LABASH ONE DIRECTION MN 11 Oct 11
A well grown lad of good type. Medium length even wedge, needing a little more width at the top, large ears which he does tend to bonnet. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though a little deep set and set a little far apart thanks to the broad base of his nose; I would prefer a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a pure brilliant white, coat short and close, of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Caramel Kitten

1+BOB May's BUURAPHAA WINTERS-MIST F 28 Sep 11
A girl of good type, but something of an enigma as to colour. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and of a good green. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws balancing length of tail. Colour rather pale lilac-based caramel sound to the roots; the lighting was unhelpful, but the head and front of the body did not appear to display any clear brownish overtones, thought there was some evidence of them further down the body. Coat short and close lying, of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation,

Oriental Bicolour Neuter

BOB Whiston's GR PR MIYOKO CHIQUITITA (48 45bs) 21 Nov 08
An attractive girl of very good type. Long wedge with a minimal pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a pale olive green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a very dark chocolate on a clear silver ground, the ticking very even; given the darkening influence of both silver and bicolour, I considered the colour acceptable. White in all required areas, in total clearly over the minimum third. Coat short and close in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation
Also considered Taylor's GR PR JADEVYN BRYCHAN TROEDMAWR (48 40bt) 19 May 08
A lad of superior type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight other than a bump on the nose, very firm slightly shallow chin, bite lacking many incisors but appears slightly under. Eyes of good shape and set and of good depth of blue considering the adjacence of the white on his face. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. White in all required areas, and attractive white tips to the ears: all in all a little over a third. Coloured areas well marked in darkish warm chocolate, moderate shading on the body. Coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Caramel Point Adult

1+CC+BOB Fairclough's ZARAFA BEWITCHED F 28 Jul 11
A pleasing youngster of good type, just adult and looking it (but of appropriate development for her age). Longish even wedge, needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Points of lilac-based caramel showing clear browny overlay, unshaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Siamese Adult

BOB Fairclough's GR CH ZARAFA ALLOWEEN (32a) 2 Aug 09
Not the largest of girls, but attractive and of very good type,. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight other than for quite a prominent bump on the nose, firm chin, bite level lacking many incisors. Eyes of excellent shape and set and very good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Very good bright red points, unshaded body, coat a fraction long of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Eyes of excellent shape and set, and good depth of blue. Long firm muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a slightly pale but bright red, unshaded body, coat close and of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. My choice for best Siamese kitten later in the day.

AC Oriental Adult, Kitten or Neuter born July-September

1 Wells-McCulloch's BUURAPHAA BUDDY (38d) MN 28 Sep 11
An extremely well grown lad (difficult to believe that the caramel spotted girl is his litter sister) of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a bright olive green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Pattern colour a very good bright red, the ground colour too quite a deep red making the markings less evident. Good facial markings, well ringed tail, good leg bars. Markings to the body rather linked and showing a little agouti invasion, the spine rather solid. Short close coat of excellent texture; excellent temperament and presentation.
