Chocolate Pointed Siamese C.C. & Lilac Point Siamese C.S. - 18 August 2012

Thanks to Barbie and the committees for the invitation to judge, at a new venue which would have been ideal if only it had been a little larger, unfortunate in a generally miserable summer to run across a day of uninterrupted sunshine which made the hall distinctly warm. Thanks to Jasmine for stewarding for me, with a sureness of handling which belied her lack of experience as a steward - I hope she decides to take it up seriously.

Open Classes

LPSCS: Siamese/Balinese Grand Champion Male

1 (IGCC N/A) Bunyan's GR CH JOMESE JUST-DELICIOUS (24b) 2 Nov 10
A large and very handsome lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, which for perfection could be a little deeper in hue. Long slender yet muscular body, which I would prefer to see carrying more weight, but in a young working boy I would have been prepared to forgive that. Long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points basically a rather dark warm chocolate (but well within the limits I find acceptable) but unfortunately all extremely brindled, the brindling even extending into the moderate shading on his body. Close coat of excellent texture. Really superb temperament, excellent presentation. Sorry, but given the colour problem I did not feel able to award a certificate at this level.

LPSCS: Chocolate Point Adult, Male

BOB Bunyan's GR CH JOMESE JUST-DELICIOUS
However, I did not consider them sufficient grounds to withhold an ordinary certificate, so he remained a contender for BOB, which his superior type and basic colour won for him.

LPSCS: Chocolate Point Adult, Female

1+CC Bowles-Gowdy's MAFDET ROSE GOLD 2 Sep 11
A young girl of very good type, quite mature for her age. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, large ears which she tends to hold flat but can put in the proper place as she demonstrated when relaxed back in her pen. Straight profile, front of head slopes back a little, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points quite a dark chocolate, just within the limits of acceptability, made to look better by the fact that they were all moderately brindled (though nothing like as bad as the boy's). Unshaded body, coat close and of excellent texture. Excellent temperament with a charming purr; excellent presentation.

LPSCS: Seal Point Kitten

1+BOB Withers's ABICASA CARELESS WHISPER F 7 Apr 12
A promising and well grown girl of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, large ears which she does tend to hold rather low but can hold properly. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, well tapered tail which could do with an extra fraction. Points a good warm seal, lightly shaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Marjoram's DOOLALLY GALADRIEL F 26 Feb 12
A well grown girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Slightly undulating profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set and good depth of blue though I should prefer more brilliance to them. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction and could be better tapered. Points a good seal but all rather brindled, unshaded body. Excellent temperament and presentation.

CPSCC: Caramel Point Adult, Male

BOB Bowles-Gowdy's CH MAFDET MASQUERADE 30 Jun 11
An extremely handsome lad of excellent type, a pity he's so nervous. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, chin ebbs a little, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, I should prefer a slightly deeper shade of blue. Long strong muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Lilac-based caramel points well matched and showing good browny overtones, unshaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Deservedly best adult in both shows, and at least for the Chocolate Point (which I was judging) ran the overall winner close.

CPSCC: Caramel Point Adult, Female

Considered for BOB Ellams's CH JAKURTZZIKARAMELMYST 12 Dec 09
A girl of very good type who I should prefer to see more mature. Long even wedge needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set and very good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needing an extra inch to balance. Points a good sludgy lilac-based caramel, unshaded body, coat close and of excellent texture. Rather nervous but handled well, excellent presentation.

LPSCS: Caramel Point Neuter

BOB Ellis's CH & IMP GR PR TINTALLY JUSTTHE TICKET MN 15 May 10
A handsome mature lad of very good type. Long wedge, just a fraction overlong in the muzzle, firm slightly shallow chin, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Long strong body, Long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Points a very good brown-hued blue-based caramel, body heavily shaded but still showing adequate contrast, short close-lying coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

CPSCC: Balinese Neuter

1+PC+BOB Hardy's PIPPASTRO TOMAHAWK (62 40 4 - judged as 61c) MN 13 May 08
A handsome mature lad of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite rather untidy but level. Eyes of very good shape and set, needing a little more depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with largish paws, tail needs an extra inch at least. Points a slightly dark lilac and like most lilacs these days lacking the desirable pinky tones, the tail as usual (and as allowed by the SOP) considerable paler. Lightly shaded body, the coat showing good length and flow and excellent texture, good furnishings to paws and ears, well furnished tail. Excellent temperament and presentation.

HHP Open Classes

CPSCC: Pedigree Grand Master Cat Male

IGMC Brock's GMC OSCARTHEGROUCH (Red/Cream SLH) MN 1 yr 4 mths
I don't know why he's called that, because he had a charming temperament. A substantial red-pointed lad, Persian in type but not extreme, an alert expression in his amber eyes, neat ears with lovely furnishings and a splendid set of whiskers. Profuse long coat with a lovely soft silky texture, well furnished tail. Very composed and happy to be petted but just a little apprehensive. Excellent presentation.
Res Pearson's GMC OSCAR (Blue Colourpoint SLH) MN 3 yr 10 mths
Another friendly but slightly reserved lad, a very substantial bluepoint of ragdoll type. Alert china-blue eyes, neat ears. Soft blue points and lightly shaded body, semi-long coat of a slightly hard texture, with a profuse ruff.

CPSCC: Pedigree Grand Master Cat Female

IGMC Pearson's GMC Holly (Seal Colourpoint SLH) FN 3 yr 10 mths
A substantial semi-longhaired lady with warm seal points and creamy body, white patches to two hind toes. Bright blue eyes, neat ears, long spotted whiskers. Flowing coat with well furnished tail which she waved gently from side to side while being judged. Very happy to be handed with a gentle purr. Excellent presentation.
2 (Res N/A) Turnbull's GMC SHAMMI (Chocolate Point SH) FN 4 yr 10 mths
A reserved girl not wanting to be handed at all and making her feelings plain, with more than just words. Not really nasty, though, but for a household pet at this level I did not feel justified in an award - a pity because she's attractive, with beautiful eyes and a lovely smooth short coat. Excellent presentation.

CPSCC: Non-Pedigree SH Self with/without White, Male

1 Lewis's DOUGLAS (Black & White SH) 10 mths
A handsome self-possessed lad with neat white stockings and moustache, alert pale green eyes and neat upright ears. Shiny black coat with a neat tail, very happy to stand on the trolley and purr gently at us.
Considered for BOB James's GMC SPATS DOMINO (Black & White SH) 2 yrs
A substantial handsome black and white lad (in a tuxedo pattern), but I think he has become disenchanted with being shown, very nervous out of his pen and in it wanting to hide well under his blankets.

CPSCC: Non-Pedigree SH Self with/without White, Female

BOB Hall's MC MINNIE PAWS (Black SH) FN 2 yr 7 mths
An attractive girl with a jet-black shiny soft-textured coat, not a hair out of place. Alert pale green eyes with rather a cheeky expression, keen to survey the show hall when out and minded to explore had we let her

Litter sister to the winner I see and an attractive girl in her own right. Very good type, long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin, bite almost level. Eyes of good shape and set though she does open them rather wide at times, I should prefer a little more depth of blue. 1 Brock's MC CYNNABONBASTIC THE VERY FANTASTIC (Golden Tabby LH) MN 1 yr 4 mths
A friendly Persian lad, with lots of attractively coloured soft coat, amber eyes with neat ears, liked a cuddle though with the odd word interjected.
2 Passfield-Taylor's MC PYE-PYE (TABBY & WHITE LH) MN 4 yrs
A substantial tabby lad with white paws and tummy, a friendly lad pale blue eyes and masses of soft semi-long coat in excellent condition, excellent presentation. Deserved an equal first prize really, but the rules don't permit it.

1 Hutchinson's IGMC ROSINA (Tortie LH) FN 5 yr 6 mths
A very friendly black tortie girl with a pretty face. Olive eyes, neat ears and lovely whiskers. Attractive mingled coat, long and soft textured which was however shedding a little when we got to her, but I attributed that to the heat. Not wanting to be held, but very happy to display herself on the trolley, purring gently.
