Siamese Cat Club - 3 November 2012
Thanks to Niki and Barbie and the show committee for the invitation to judge at a show which I have attended, in one capacity or another, for more years than I care to contemplate. If the entry is sadly diminished from earlier years, the quality of the exhibits is as high as ever. I was given the honour of judging the overall Best in Show, and did not find it at all easy, particularly the choice between the male and female neuters, both of whom were pretty close to perfection: on the day, I thought PR JOHPAS COEUR D'OR just had the edge over IMP GR CH & PR JOHPAS MIZMIXTURE . He was then best exhibit, since these two neuters were of a standard that the others could not match, excellent as they were in their own right.

GCC Bowles-Gowdy's CH MYLYNN MISS MIMOSA (32t1) 1 Feb 11
A girl of good size and maturity, of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, large ears held a fraction low. Small dip to profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set though a little deep set, of a good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction to balance and with a tiny irregularity at the tip. Marked in a good warm seal well mingled with shades of pale red. Good facial markings (no thumbprints, not unexpected in a tortie-tabby) good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed though with a lot of agouti in the rings. Moderately shaded body, coat short and close-lying, a little harsh in texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Congratulations on best female adult.

A very well developed lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and very good depth of blue. Long substantial muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points of a good bright red, unshaded body, coat just a fraction long but of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A mature girl of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top. well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, chin deep with the upper part lining up but the lower fading away a little; bite level. Expressive eyes of excellent shape and set and of a good deep blue. Long firm relaxed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points of a good blue rather sparsely mingled with shades of cool cream. Moderately shaded body, short close coat of excellent texture. Wonderful temperament, excellent presentation. Unanimously best Female neuter, and only missing out by a whisker on overall best.

A very shy lad of excellent type. Medium length even wedge, jowls just starting to form, good width at the top, large ears which he does hold a fraction low. Straight profile, chin ebbs a little, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good depth of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Very good lilac-based caramel points showing good browny overtones, lightly shaded body with the shading beginning to deepen over the top of his head, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Unanimously best male adult, and my choice for overall best adult.

A girl of good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip to profile and a very shallow depression above the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set but a little small and deep set, of a good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a blue-based caramel showing adequate browny overtones, moderately shaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent presentation, grumbled constantly but handled well.

A soppy lad of very good type, and sufficient maturity for his age. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, he was holding the right one slightly closed, most probably bumped on the way to the show - I did consult the duty vet who thought it not to be a problem so I ignored it, and indeed by the end of the day it was looking much better. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good seal, good head markings and leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Moderately shaded body, coat short and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Roper & Rowntree's ISSAMELLE DESERTSTORM (32/2) 26 Jan 12
A youngster of good type, needing to grow up a bit - at present, he still does look rather kittenish. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and very good depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Well marked in a rather browny blue which does tend to suggest caramel as does the fact that he has quite clear thumbprints, but paw pads and nose leather are inconclusive, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Good facial ribbons and leg bars, tail three quarters ringed. Body lightly shaded, short close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Unshaded body, coat a fraction long but of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Unanimously best male kitten.

A promising girl of very good type. Medium length wedge, at present a little short in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile has a shallow depression above the brow at present and is slightly angled down from the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though a little full, and needing slightly more depth of blue. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a palish red, unshaded body, coat a fraction long but of good texture. Rather shy but no problem to handle, excellent presentation.

A girl of fairly good type. Medium length wedge needing more width at the top, large ears set in line. Profile angled down from the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape if rather full, needing more depth of blue. Long slender body needing to fill out, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Points a darkish blue well broken with shades of pale cream. Coat a fraction long of good texture. Rather shy but easy to handle, excellent presentation.

A lad of superior type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight other than a bump on the nose, very firm chin, bite twisted, undershot on the left side, level on the right - my reason not to award BoB. Eyes of good shape and set and of good depth of blue considering the proximity of white. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail with a terminal irregularity. White to almost the complete underside, the head about half white, white for most of the front limbs and over the shoulders, rear paws and some on the right thigh, a small patch on the back, all in all rather over the required third. Coloured areas well marked in darkish warm chocolate, moderate shading on the body in a spotted pattern. Coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Unfortunately for him, he was very relaxed today and his bite was easy to see clearly - on other occasions when he was making it more difficult to inspect a brief glimpse of the right side had me accept it as level.

Proportionate slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Well marked in a good seal - very good facial markings, good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Still wearing his baby coat s yet. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

A girl of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, rather full in the muzzle (teething at present), needs more width at the top, large ears set in line. Profile straight apart from a shallow depression above the brow, firm deep chin, bite scissored under. Eyes of good shape and set, needing more depth of blue. Points darkish seal, rather cool in tone, moderately shaded body also rather cool toned, coat a fraction long of good texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.
