Midland Counties C.C. - 12 May 2013

Thanks to Jean, Brenda and the show Committee for the invitation to judge at this well-organised show, a pity the size of entry was adversely affected I take it by the attractions of the following week, though there was definitely quality in the entry. I enjoyed my day.

Open Classes

Oriental Tortoiseshell Adult

1+CC+BOB Atkinson's WINNOTHDALE PUMPKIN (37h) F 7 Aug 12
A stylish girl of good type, very well developed for one just adult. Long almost even wedge, good width to balance, large ears well set. Straight profile, a little flat over the forehead, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs a fraction in length. Colour an attractive warm mid chocolate well broken with shades of bright red, all sound to the roots. Super coat qualities, really short and close lying and of excellent texture. Sweet tempered, excellent presentation.
2 Freeman's MESBELLES MISS TRUFFLE (37h) F 1 Jun 12
A girl of reasonably good type. Long even wedge needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Straight profile, firm chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of good shape and set of an olive green. Long firm body, ,ong legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a slightly dark shade of chocolate, rather sparsely mingled with shades of red, sound to the roots. Coat rather long though of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.,

Oriental Longhair Adult

BOB Tasker's CH LORICHA BUNDOOK BOY (62 43s) M 29 Dec 09
A lad of good type, still less than perfectly masculine in appearance. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears which would ideally be a little larger. Bump on nose and profile angled down a bit from the brow, but still quite good depth at the muzzle, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of quite a good green. Long muscular body, long legs with surprisingly neat paws for the breed, tail needs an extra inch. Pattern colour charcoal rather than jet black, the undercolour covering the bottom two thirds on the back, more lower on the sides, leaving little surface pattern visible. Coat of acceptable length and excellent texture, well furnished paws and ears, good plume. Rather tarnished to muzzle and all paws and a little up the front legs. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Longhair Kitten

1+BOB Browning's PIPASTRO TWYLA (62 43ps) F 3 Jan 13
An endearing baby of very good type. Longish even wedge, very good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile angled down slightly and with a small bump on the nose, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, as yet of a rather muddy colour. Proportionate firm body, long legs with largish paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a darkish lilac with some brownish overtones broken with pale cream so definitely giving out mixed messages, but on the whole I think the colour change on the day to caramel was right, silver already developed nearly to the tip, no surface pattern, Coat of promising length and excellent texture, well developed plume for age, good ear furnishings. Super temperament, I didn't really want to put her back and she didn't want to go either; excellent presentation.

Oriental Black Neuter Judge

BOB Woodfield's PR HEMLOCK RHYTHM OF THE NIGHT MN 8 Sep 11
A lad of good type. Long even wedge, needing a bit more width at the top to balance, large ears set in line. Small dip to profile, firm deep chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape and set and a good green colour. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a glossy jet black, sound to the roots, coat short and close. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Blue Point Adult

1 (CC N/A) Gurney Taylor's SENSUAL BOBBY DAZZLER M 21 Apr 12
A lad of reasonably good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Dip in profile, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of very good shape and set and a good bright deep blue in colour. Medium length firm weighty body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Points a dark rather murky blue, moderate brownish shading to body but nose leather and paw pads consistent with blue. Coat short but soft and a bit dry in texture, as though he had been bathed. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Balinese Adult

BOB Browning's GR CH PIPPASTRO GILT EDGED (61d) M 19 Jul 11
A lad of excellent type, for me easily the best Balinese around (and better than most Siamese). Well balanced longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, but on the small side, of a very good depth of blue. Long body which though muscular could do with carrying more weight as is not uncommon in youngish males, long legs with largish paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Marked in a palish red; good facial markings, leg bars just visible, clear tail rings. Body very lightly shaded. Coat of good length and excellent texture. Well furnished ears and paws, good plume. Rather nervous today and reluctant to be handled, though he appeared to have cheered up later in the day. Excellent presentation.

Cinnamon Point Neuter

1 (PC N/A) Bayliss's KOHIMA HOT LOVE MN 2 Jul 12
A lad of good type, but still looking too much like a kitten for which reason I felt unable to award the certificate. Long wedge rather broad in the muzzle, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Profile almost straight, chin ebbs, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set of a very good depth of blue, unusual to see in a cinnamon. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Points of a good warm cinnamon, unshaded warm toned body, coat short and close of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

1 Calloway's SIAMAZING SUMMER MAGIC (32/1) F 3 Jul 12
A dainty girl of very good type. Longish well balanced medium length wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and a very good depth of blue. Longish firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a good warm seal, but clearly with an underlying ticked pattern and the definition suffering therefore, specially on the head where the "M" is only fairly good, good thumbprints, single ribbons, goodish leg bars, tail half ringed with some mixture of agouti in the rings. Body moderately shaded, warm in tone, coat short and close though slightly harsh in texture on the lower back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red, Cream, Tortie, Apricot, Fawn Caramel or Cinnamon Point Kitten

1 Gurney-Taylor's ADZWOAM MISTLETOE AND WINE (24n) F 6 Oct 12
A girl of reasonably good type and on the small side for her age. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width, well set ears which need to be a shade larger. Reasonably straight profile, firm rather shallow chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape set a little straight, needing more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail of good length but unfortunately with a visible kink. Points a good browny toned lilac-based caramel, unshaded body, coat close and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

AV Balinese Kitten

1 Browning's PIPPASTRO GUILTY SECRET (62 40 13) M 3 Feb 12
A promising chocolate tabby point Balinese baby by phenotype, whatever his breed number. Very good type; medium length almost even wedge, good width to balance, well set large ears. Small dip to profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set though I would prefer a deeper shade of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with largish paws, tail almost balances. Markings developing in darkish warm chocolate, coat still with a fluffy baby texture as yet but showing promise of length to come, wonderful ear furnishings, good plume already. Excellent temperament and presentation, though not so relaxed to handle as his OLH stable-mate.
