Yorkshire County CC - 26 October 2013

Thanks to Linda and the show committee for the invitation to judge, and for the usual excellent Yorkshire lunch. A good entry in both quantity and quality. Thanks to Sheila Calloway for agreeing to steward for me, almost her first engagement but had I not known it I would never have guessed.

Open Classes

Siamese/Balinese Grand Champion Female

1 (GCC N/A) Moore's CH KINKAJEWSDEN RUBYLOU (24k) 22 Oct 12
A girl still looking very adolescent, not the biggest but of good weight for her size, of good type. Medium length medium length wedge, a little short in the muzzle, with a small pinch, needing just a fraction more width at the top, large ears which she does hold them a little high at times though the set is good when relaxed. Straight profile apart from a small bump on the nose, firm chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape though held somewhat full until relaxed, well set, I would ideally prefer slightly more depth to the blue but it is not at all bad for a cinnamon. Long slender muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a good warm cinnamon all rather brindled, lightly shaded body, coat very short and close lying, of super texture. Handled well though nervous, excellent presentation. For me, she needs to grow up a bit before she is ready for a certificate at this level.

Havana Kitten

1 (BOB N/A) Cassar-Simmonds's FIORDILISO COPA HABANA F 25 May 2013
A very friendly girl of promising type. Medium length wedge, a little short in the muzzle as yet, very good width at the top, large ears held rather low out of the pen, but correctly set when she relaxed. Small dip to profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of quite a good green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a slightly dark warm chestnut showing rather too clear ghost spotted markings, one or two white hairs in the groin. Coat rather long though of excellent texture - this, together with the degree of ghost pattern were my reasons not to award the BOB. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Oriental Cinnamon Adult

1 (CC N/A) Denyer's MYMY KINDAPOSH NELLIE F 25 Nov 11
A girl of good type. Longish even wedge. Needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm rather shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch and rather blunt at the tip. Colour a darkish warm cinnamon, very unsound on the lower back , and somewhat unsound on the sides, showing fairly clear ghost markings, coat mostly short though a little long on the lower back, of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Eyes of very good shape, a good green in colour. Proportionate firm body, rather a full tummy, long legs with tiny paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a slightly dark warm chocolate mingled with shades of pale red, sound to the roots. Short close coat of excellent texture. Super temperament, a real tome-waster, excellent presentation.

A very handsome mature lad of very good type. Well balanced longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a very good green. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Marked in a slightly dark cool toned blue, good markings to the head, good definition to the spots with just a little linkage and they could ideally be rounder in shape, no agouti invasion, spine line well broken. Good leg bars and tail rings. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation,

Tabby Point Siamese Adult

BOB Palmer's GR CH STYPERSON SONGBIRD (32/1) F 24 May 11
An impressive mature girl of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good deep blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points marked in a good seal - the ticked base to her pattern doesn't help with the clarity of the markings. Rather blurred "M", faint single ribbons, reasonably good leg bars, tail two thirds ringed. Moderately shaded body, close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

BIC Kidd's OB IGMC HANNAH (Tortie & White) FN 13 yrs
A very alert and friendly girl with bright green eyes interestingly flecked with black. Coat showing patches of pristine white, black and dull red, on the long side for a shorthair soft and in excellent condition. Very relaxed and enjoyed a fuss. Excellent presentation.

HHP Miscellaneous Classes

Most Unusual Longhair/Semi-Longhair Cat

1 Brown's KURLISU FN (Lilac Point & White SLH) 1 yr 8 m
A very friendly Birman lady. Short head with neat ears, dominant pale blue eyes. Pale lilac points with white gloves, full creamy coat of superb texture, not a hair out of place. Short tail with a right angle bend about two thirds of the way down, her claim to unusualness I suppose.

Most Unusual Shorthair Cat

I confess I found this class almost impossible to judge on the criteria specified, and even as an ordinary HHP class it was extremely difficult with all three cats on their best behaviour and in excellent condition.
1 Lowell's IGMC HELLS BELLS (Blue Tortie Smoke & White SH) FN 14 yrs
An extremely friendly Rex with short curly fur to her legs, back of head and lower ears, and a delightful paint-brush tip to her long thin tail, elsewhere sphynx-like in appearance and feel. Bold amber eyes, large upright ears and attractive stubbly whiskers.
2 Castelli's GMC STUART LITTLE (Blue Tabby & White SH) MN 2 yrs 8 m
A large mature Oriental Bicolour, extremely friendly and with a hesitant purr. Shiny dark blue coloured areas faintly tabby marked, contrasting with sparkling white, short close lying coat of super texture. Long expressive tail with a small kink near the end. Excellent presentation.
