CPSCC & LPSCS - 16 August 2014

Thanks to Barbie and the show management teams for the invitation to judge at the two shows. Good to see a reasonable entry in terms of numbers, and rather more than that as to quality.

Open Classes

LPSCS Siamese/Balinese/Oriental Imperial Grand Champion

1 (OGCC w/h) Miller's IGRCH BARBECCO MIRANDA (OSH o) F 16.6.11
An impressive mature girl of excellent type, though determined to escape back to the safety of her pen so by no means easy to assess. Longish even edge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, quite a good green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Good rich warm cinnamon colour, impressively sound and free from ghost markings. but unfortunately the cinnamon nose leather mottled with pink, my only reason not to award the certificate. Very short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent presentation.
2 (Res w/h) Brock's UK OB IGRCH KARAMUSHI TUTI FRUITY (SIA f) F 4.8.07
A mature girl of very good type but beginning to show her age. Longish even wedge, rather broad in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, and of a good depth of blue though it could be brighter. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a dark seal well broken everywhere with shades of red, though the red lacking brightness and the whole appearance more black and white than I should ideally like. Moderate shading to the body, coat marginally long but short lying and of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. For me, she just comes up short at this extremely high level.

LPSCS Oriental Grand Premier

1 (IGPC w/h) Miller's GRPR PASHTAN RIO GRANDE (OSH em) MN 5.8.12
A mature lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, the colour unfortunately amber and to my eyes lacking any hint of green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour mainly a rich warm apricot sound to the roots, though there were a few curious paler patches on the surface. Very slight spotted pattern visible. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

CPSCC Oriental Grand Champion

IGCC Miller's GRCH PASHTAN RHAPSODY (OSH b) F 5.8.12
A girl of very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a good green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a good warm chestnut sound to the roots, just a little ghost spotting on the lower sides. Short close coat of excellent texture. A little apprehensive to handle but not difficult, excellent presentation.

CPSCC Cinnamon Point Adult

1+CC+BOB Pryce's INKHEART NEFERTIRI (SIA o) F 11.8.13
An adolescent girl of good type, just looking sufficiently mature for her age. Longish wedge needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm but slightly shallow chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, I should prefer a deeper shade of blue but found it acceptable. Long slender body, Long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a good warm cinnamon, lightly shaded body, short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

LPSCS Red Point Male Neuter

BOB Sheldon's IGRPR JOHPAS COEUR D'OR (SIA d) MN 22.10.11
A mature lad of excellent type, just a little reluctant to show himself off which is a pity, but despite that by some margin the best cat I judged on the day. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set and good depth of blue. Long strong body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a very good bright red, lightly shaded body, coat a fraction long but close lying and of good texture. Handled well if reluctantly, excellent presentation.
Also considered for BOB
Janicki's PR SHERMESE DIABLO ROSSO (SIA d) MN 12.7.13
A youngster of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, ideally I would prefer a deeper blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a slightly pale red but with a good degree of brightness, unshaded body, coat rather long but of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

LPSCS Red Point Female Neuter

1+PC Alex Collins's ALEXSIAM KATMOSS (SIA d) FN 4.10.11
A girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears of adequate size. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of quite a good depth of blue. Long firm well fed body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a slightly pale red, almost unshaded body, coat a little long and of rather a soft texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

LPSCS Havana Adult

BOB Miller's GRCH PASHTAN RHAPSODY F

LPSCS Oriental Red Kitten

1+BOB Parsons's TRIUMPH ALCHEMIST (OSH d) MN 14.2.14
A well grown lad of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, needing a fraction more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, a slightly bluey shade of green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a most attractive rich red, sound to the roots, at the moment showing a degree of pattern any spotted tabby would envy. Short close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. Unfortunately, he has quite a large white patch on his lower abdomen: fortunately for him, though, I somehow managed not to see it when judging this class.

CPSCC Oriental Bicolour Adult

BOB Fremont's CH DELAMON DELUXE QUASHI'MIUOO (OSH ns 03) F 15.8.13
A girl of good type, showing good maturity for her age though ideally I would like her a little larger. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes a little full but of good basic shape and set, mid green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour jet black, silver undercolour to about half the hair length but hardly showing on the surface. About two thirds white to colour, some bleeding of white into the edges of the coloured patches. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

LPSCS Oriental Bicolour Neuter

BOB Fremont's PR LUNATORA CATCHMEIFYOUCAN (OSH ns 03 11) MN 15.8.10
A large mature lad of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set though slightly full, of a clear palish green. A little over half white to colour, the coloured areas black showing a good depth of clear silver undercolour, white in all the right places, I was rather taken with the white ear tips. Short close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament if on the shy side, excellent presentation

1 Ridgeway's HARTZIE TOHAVEANDTOHOLD (SIA m 21) M 5.8.13
A youngster of very good type but needing more maturity, at the moment he does not look too masculine. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm slightly shallow chin, bite scissored over. Eyes of very good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Long adolescent body, long legs with neat paws, long tail to match. 1 Ridgeway's HARTZIE TOHAVEANDTOHOLD (SIA m 21) M

CPSCC Maiden Kitten

1 Parsons's TRIUMPH SPICE WIZARD (SIA em) MN 14.2.14
A lad of fairly good type. Longish rather rectangular rather than wedge shaped head, more width needed at the top, large ears held rather high. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape set rather straight, for preference their blue would be deeper. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points unfortunately definitely not apricot as entered, but have the translucent appearance typical of a red point (and one of quite well developed colour for his age): I judged him as that. Unshaded body, short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

LPSCS Breeders Balinese AC 32 Kitten

1 Ross's DIBBERPUSS FALMAI (BAL n 21) F 13.1.14
A girl of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears of adequate size. Profile with a small bump on the nose, and angled down rather from the brow so that the front of the head is quite shallow. Chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes of quite good shape though rather full, needing more depth of blue. Long body, long legs with quite neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Well marked in a good seal, moderately shaded body. Coat has very good length for her age and a really super soft texture, thought the furnishing of the tail is something of a work in progress. Excellent temperament and presentation.

LPSCS Limit Kitten

1 Jackson-Lee's NIGHTQUEEN MANTRA (SIA c) M 19.2.14
A very promising lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, large ears which he mostly holds too low but brought up into the right position when out of his pen. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and a good depth of blue. Points a darkish lilac with a hint of brown which may indicate that in due course he will turn out to be caramel, although looking at his breeding that might by a consequence of carrying cinnamon instead. Unshaded body, short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. I look forward to seeing how he develops.
2 Parsons's TRIUMPH CUBAN SORCERER (OSH b) MN 14.2.14
A lad of reasonably good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a good green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a darkish chestnut, not quite sound and showing overmuch spotted ghost pattern to the sides, a sprinkling of white hairs in the bikini line. Coat short and close, of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

CPSCC Junior Neuter

1 James's FIROUSI MACSKA (OLH hs 11) FN 10.10.13
An attractive youngster of good unexaggerated type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape though on the full side, well set and of a good green. Medium length body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Very attractive colouration, mostly silver tipped with a mixture of dark chocolate and quite a pale red. Coat just long enough over the upper body, better elsewhere, the texture excellent, soft and silky, good plume and furnishings to the ears. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Clayden's GRPR & CH MAFDET MISTER TITIAN (SIA m) MN 12.1.13
Lad of good type but needing to look more masculine. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, I would prefer a deeper shade of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a browny blue-based caramel, moderately shaded body, short close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

HHP Miscellaneous Classes

LPSCS SH Female Adult

1 Hall's IGMC MINNIE PAWS (Black SH) FN 4 yrs
An attractive girl of medium size with bright green eyes. Soft textured coat on the long side for a shorthair, completely black and in lovely condition despite the small war wound. Very friendly temperament, eager to be out of her pen and cuddled, and with quite a loud purr.
2 Wilkinson's GMC SERENDIPITY (Brown Tortie SH) FN 11 yrs 6 mths
An attractive and friendly girl, very attractively patterned with lots of bright red. She looks Burmese to me, though with green eyes. Short coat in excellent condition. Keen to come out and meet me, and reluctant to be returned to her pen. I don't think I could have guessed her age. She ran the winner very close.
3 Haffenden's MC MIEKA (Black Spotted Tabby SH) FN 1 yrs
A friendly young girl with an attractively patterned spotted tabby coat, short and silky in texture. Bold amber eyes. She had a lot to say for herself, and was another keen to come out and be admired.
4 Maruszewska's GMC POPPY (Tortie SH) FN 4 yrs
A pretty tortie girl with more than her share of attitude today, determined that she was not going to be handled. I managed to call her bluff on that, but she didn't enjoy it judging by the stream of invective.
