Trans-Pennine Oriental & Siamese Cat Club - 6 December 2014

Thanks to Joan, Ross and the show committee for the invitation to judge. Once again, an improved entry over the previous year, and with cats of high quality. A pity there were more absentees than usual. Thanks to Sheila Calloway for her expert handling of the exhibits and good company. The lighting was challenging as usual, flattering to Oriental eye colour but draining the colour from red series cats.

Open Classes

Oriental Premier

GPC Hardy's PR PIPPASTRO CINNISTER (OSH o) MN
A lad of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, a good green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail need an extra fraction. Colour a good warm cinnamon sound to the roots, showing slight ghost pattern on the flanks. Coat a fraction long but close lying and of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Res Davies's PR KIMELPHA FLASH HARRY (OSH d) MN
A rather nervous lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small bump on the nose, profile otherwise straight, chin ebbs slightly, bite level. Eyes rather small and deep set, of good shape, olive green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a very good rich red, ticked-based. Short close coat of very good texture. Handled well, excellent presentation.

Oriental Cream/Apricot Adult

BOB Keoghan's IGRCH ALDERSTAR ANDRO (OSH em) M 19 Jan 13
A handsome mature lad of excellent type. Strong medium length even wedge, the jowls quite heavy now, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set of a good green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour looked to be a good apricot - the lighting was very unflattering to this colour - showing a little spotted pattern. Coat short and close lying, and mostly of good texture, though a little harsh over the neck. Excellent temperament and presentation. Once again, easily my choice for best Oriental adult, though he faced strong competition.

Oriental Fawn Adult

BOB Helm's GRCH VELVETENA FAWNIKACHON (OSH p) F 31 May 12
A girl of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Tiny dip in profile, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good green colour. Long slender muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour a good warm fawn, coloured to the roots and free of ghost markings, short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Blue Point Siamese Kitten

1+BOB Harvey's ENIGMATIC SHADES OF BLUE (SIA a) M 21 Aug 14
A well grown baby of good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, a medium blue in colour. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a darkish blue, very lightly shaded body, short close coat of good texture. Rather overawed by what must have been his first show, but relaxed in the end, sweet temperament. Excellent presentation.

BOB Green's PR BELROO MONTALBANO (SIA p) MN 26 Aug 13.
A handsome fawn point lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Slight dip in profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Eyes of good shape though rather full, of quite a good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with largeish paws, tail needs an extra inch. Marked in a darkish seal very sparsely broken with shades of red, body heavily shaded. Coat of good length, too much undercoat over the body so not flowing well, but the texture is excellent, well furnished plume. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A beautiful girl of excellent type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile angled down slightly from the brow, firm deep chin, bite level. Eyes of good shape and set, a very good deep blue in colour, small injury to the right haw. Points a darkish blue mingled everywhere with shades of warm cream, body quite heavily shaded. 2 Green's PR BELROO MONTALBANO (SIA p) MN
x2 Rycraft's IGRPR ASHJOLEX AURORABOREALIS (SIA k) FN 7 Apr 11

3 Hardy's PR PIPPASTRO GOOD-KNIGHT (BAL c 21) MN 29 Sep 13
A promising lad of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, of a bright blue which I would prefer to be deeper. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Good length to his coat, flowing well and with excellent texture. Good furnishing to ears and paws, good plume. Marked in a brownish lilac, but not appearing to be caramel, all might be clearer in better lighting. Unshaded body. Excellent temperament and presentation.
x3 Ryan's GRPR RIDESTAR SEVERN SUNRISE (BAL d 21) MN 20 Jun 12
A large mature lad of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight apart from a small bump on the nose, chin slightly shallow, bite level. Eyes of good shape though a little full, well set and of quite a good depth of blue. Long very well fed body, long legs with largeish paws, tail needs an extra inch. Good length to the coat, a little overmuch frilling round the neck, some undercoat over the body detracting from its flow but the texture excellent, well furnished paws and ears, good plume. Well marked in a good bright rich red. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Eyes of very good shape and set, of a clear pale green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Very good markings in a slightly dark chocolate, sound to the roots, pale warm ground colour. Good markings to the head, very well broken spine, spotting to the body mostly well defined though with slight linkage and a small amount of agouti on the edge of the spots, good leg markings and tail rings. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

A large lad of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small bump on the nose, profile otherwise straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, a good green in colour. Long well fed muscular body, long legs with neat paws, long tail to balance. Pattern colour a rich red, with clear silver for the bottom fifth at best, ground not appearing as silver as expected due to its quite heavy surface ticking. Pattern very good, very well marked head, well broken spine, well defined spots to the body though showing a little linkage on the sides, good tail rings. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation. A pleasure to have too such good spotties in a class, again, neither deserved a second prize.
