Yorkshire County Cat Club - 25 October 2014

Thanks to Linda and the show committee for the invitation to judge, and for the usual excellent Yorkshire lunch. A pity that the already not overlarge entry in the Siamese and Oriental sections was diminished even more by absentees. I had the honour of selecting the best Oriental exhibit, and had no hesitation in awarding it to HEMLOCK SPOTTY MULDOON, a Brown Oriental Spotted kitten - only seven months old, but with a degree of development that would put many a young adult to shame, excellent type, very good pattern with minimal agouti invasion, the only thing he needed for perfection was more warmth to his ground colour, but even without that he was by a distance the best cat I judged on the day, and he should have a bright future.

Open Classes

Oriental Grand Champion

IGCC Helm's GRCH VELVETENA FAWNYKACHON (OSH p) F 31 May 12
A lovely girl of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a good green colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour a good fawn, coloured to the roots and free of any ghost markings, coat short and close of excellent texture. Excellent temperament with a charming purr, excellent presentation.

Oriental Blue Kitten

1+BOB Brooke's PAWCETT SAPHIRE F 22 Apr 14
A kitten of good type, rather upset with her neighbour and in consequence difficult to persuade to relax. When she did, her looks definitely improved. Longish wedge with a small pinch, top needs a little more width, large ears set in line. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape though a little full, well set and of a good green. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction for balance. Colour a slightly dark blue, sound to the roots, faint ghost markings visible on the head but nowhere else. Short close coat of good texture. Handled well, excellent presentation.

1 Miles's NIGHTQUEEN FRANKI VALI (SIA b 21) MN 10 Feb 14
A lad of good type, nearly adult and could look more masculine. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, large ears which he tens to bonnet. Profile with a small dip and angled down from the brow, firm deep chin, he was very reluctant to allow his bite to be inspected, but from the brief glimpse I was allowed it was at best scissored under. Eyes of good shape and set, a little full, of a good blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs a fraction and with a small terminal irregularity. Well marked in a slightly dark chocolate, double ribbons and good "M", faint leg bars, tail three quarters ringed. Body moderately shaded over the hips but otherwise unshaded, short close coat of good texture. Very friendly, excellent presentation.
