Coventry & Leicester - 27 February 2016

Thanks to Lesley, Jill and the show committee for the invitation to judge. I have to apologise to exhibitors for the lateness of this report, occasioned by problems in my life shortly after the show.

Open Classes

Oriental Grand Champion (Imperial Class) Male

IGCC Bauerfeind's GRCH ALARIO PATCHOULI (OSH b) 8 Dec 14
A large strong lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile a little flat over the forehead and slightly angled down from the brow, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, green in colour but I would ideally prefer it to be more vivid. Long weighty muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour rather a dark chestnut, sound to the roots, short and close lying, of excellent texture. He was tense and reluctant to be handled, though some gentle persuasion did the trick; excellent presentation.

Oriental Grand Champion (Imperial Class) Female

IGCC Keoghan's GRCH ALDERSTAR HARAJUKU GIRL (OSH hs) 15 Feb 14
A girl of excellent type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, form chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Top colour well mingled darkish chocolate with shades of red, clear silver undercolour to about two thirds, very little showing on the surface except over the shoulders, short close coat of excellent texture. Very vocal and rather a wriggler but handled well, excellent presentation.
Res May's GRCH BUURAPHAA AUTUMN BELLE (OSH b 25) 23 Oct 14
A girl of very good type, not overlarge but well proportioned. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile a little raised at the brow and with a small bump on the nose, firm chin and level bute. Eyes of very good shape and set, and good green colour. Medium length muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Excellent pattern, with three bands of very even ticking in warm darkish chocolate on a pale beige ground, hardly any darkening in the dorsal area, rings only towards the tail tip. Very short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Also considered May's GRCH BUURAPHAA WINTERS-MIST (OSH c) 28 Sep 11
A girl of superior type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a bright vivid green. Long firm well nourished body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Colour a warm slightly dark lilac which ideally would have a more obvious pinky tone, a little paler towards the roots. Short close coat of very good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Grand Premier (Imperial Class) Male

1 (IGPC N/A) Hemmings's GRPR LORICHA REBEL ROUSER (OSH ns 25) 12 Jan 14
A lad of good type. Medium length wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile almost straight, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape set rather straight, olive green in colour. Long weighty body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Markings in jet black on a clear silver ground, rather a broad darker dorsal area, two bands of ticking with silver on the lower half. Small spots in the neck area and lower sides, and lines over the back of the head which is not really correct. Coat a little long and rather soft in texture. Very shy and not at all easy to assess, excellent presentation. For me at this lavel, I'm afraid he did not quite make the grade.

Siamese/Balinese Grand Premier (Imperial Class) Female

IGPC Stokes's UK & OSIGRCH & GRPR LITTLEFEAT POWDERFINGER (SIA f) FN 5 Mar 10
A mature girl of excellent type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, tiny occipital bump, well set large ears. Almost straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of excellent shape and set, ideally needing a little more depth of blue. Long firm body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a dark seal well mingled with shades of rather pale red. Moderately shaded body still giving adequate contrast, short close coat of excellent texture except along the spine where it was a little harsh. Reluctant to leave the safety of her pen but handled well, excellent presentation.

Havana Adult

1 (CC N/A) Wood's SMOKIEX YAYANDRA CASANOVA M 3 Apr 15
A large lad of reasonably good type. Medium length even wedge, needing a little more width at the top, well set ears of adequate size. Profile raised at the brow and with a small dip, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shapoe though distinctly full, of a rather pale green. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra inch. Colour a darkish warm chestnut, a little unsound. Glossy coat a little long but close lying and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
BOB Bauerfeind's GRCH ALARIO PATCHOULI M

Foreign White Kitten

1+BOB Bauerfeind's SNOWSEAL STARGAYZER M 18 Oct 15
A lad of very good type, but very obviously given the wrong date of birth - I would estimate eight months rather than the four in my book. Very well grown, he would make a passable adult already. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, which would ideally be a deeper shade of blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour pure white, short close coat of excellent texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Oriental Spotted Tabby Kitten

1+BOB Brown's HEMLOCK SOUTHERN COMFORT (OSH b 24) M 12 Jun 15
A well grown lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, a clear green in colour. Marked in darkish chocolate on a warm ground, well defined spots showing just a little linkage, well broken spine line, some agouti invasion to the spots, but they are otherwise completely sound. Very short close coat of excellent texture. Rather shy but handled well, excellent presentation.

Chocolate Point Siamese Adult

BOB Brock's UK & IGRCH KEVELS TWICE AS NICE M 18 Apr 10
A mature lad of very good type. Longish even wedge slightly broad in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile straight angled down a little from the brow, firm chin, level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a very good blue. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a marginally dark warm chocolate rather brindled everywhere, moderate shading over the top of head, lightly shaded elsewhere. Short close coat of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Red Point Siamese Kitten

1+BOB Hocken's HYDINISY RUPERT CRISP M 19 Oct 15
An appealing baby of basically very good type. Longish even wedge, good width at the top, very large ears held low and tipped forward, which I was prepared to forgive at this age. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape though a little small, set rather straight, of a good depth of blue. Proportionate firm body, long legs with neat paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Points a very good bright red, unshaded body, coat a little long but close lying and of excellent texture. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.
