Surrey & Sussex C.A. - 19 March 2016

Thanks to Kym and the show committee for the invitation to judge at this well attended show, with plenty of quality in the exhibits, if more among the Orientals than the Siamese. Thanks to Di Brown for her expert stewarding. I have to apologise to exhibitors for the lateness of this report, but developments in my life shortly before the show left me without the ability to concentrate for the extended time production of a report requires until recently.

Open Classes

Oriental Grand Premier (Imperial Class) Female

1 (IGPC N/A) Allen's GRCH & GRPR WICCANWAYS DIVA VON TEEZ (OSH h 03) FN 15 Dec 2012
An attractive girl of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile rather flat over the forehead and with a small dip, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape though a shade full, well set olive green in colour. Long well muscled body, log legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Coloured parts a dark warm chocolate patched with shades of rich red, sound to the roots. White in an inverted Y to the face, under the chin chest completely white extending upwards in front of the legs to the side of the next, a broad white strip for most of the underbody but narrowing considerably for the centre third, front legs about two thirds white, some white to hind legs, a little to the lower side behind the front legs but otherwise none to the sides and upper body, in all the proportion of white is less than the required third - I'd say a little over a quarter. Coat a fraction long but close lying and of good texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Champion (Grand Class) Female

1 (GCC N/A) May's CH BUURAPHAA AUTUMNS BREEZE (OSH o) 23 Oct 14
An attractive girl of very good type. Longish wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile unfortunately has quite a deep depression above the brow which was the reason not to award the certificate, firm deep chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and a good green colour. Long muscular body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a marginally dark warm cinnamon, sound to the roots, short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 (Res N/A) Davies's CH WICCANWAYS KHALEESI (OSH f) 26 Mar 15
A petite girl of good type, needing to grow up more at this level. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Small dip in profile, chin slightly shallow but very firm, bite undershot. Eyes of good shape if a little full, of a good green colour. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour jet black mingled with shades of red, sound to the roots, I'd prefer a richer shade of red. Coat a little long but close lying, texture good except a little harsh along the back. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Havana Adult

CNH Fincham's LAICEPS SIR LANCELOT M 4 Jan 15
A rather effeminate lad of fairly good type. Shorter medium length wedge, fairly good width at the top, eras set in line but needing to be larger. Eyes of good shape and set, with some green to them. Colour rather dark and with a scattering of white hairs. Unfortunately, that was as much as I could ascertain before he made it very clear that he had no intention of being handled further.

Oriental Cream/Apricot Adult

1 CC BOB Mansaray's ALDERSTAR BATFINK (OSH em) M 17 Apr 15
A lad of very good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good green colour. Long very well nourished body, approaching but not quite reaching the degree at which it would blur his type, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Colour a rather pale apricot showing adequate browny overtones, coloured to the roots, showing quite a pronounced spotted pattern. Short close coat of excellent texture. Super temperament, excellent presentation.

Oriental Bicolour Kitten Male

1 BOB Emmens's JOHPAS STANISLAV (OSH d 03 33) MN 5 Aug 15
A well grown lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Profile slightly raised at he brow and with a small bump to the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set, of a reasonably good depth of blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Good bright red points, very lightly shaded body. White irregularly distributed on the head, completely white under chin and to the chest, to the whole underbody and a fair way up the sides, difficult at present to gauge the amount of white to the legs, but all my overall estimate is a little under 40% white. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Fremont's LUNATORA FAIRFONDRELANEIGE (OSH ns 03) M 13 Aug 15
A lad of good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large very wide based ears set in line. Straight profile, chin ebbs a little, bite scissored over. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Patches of colour to back, head and legs and completely coloured tail, black with silver to half of the hair length on the body, pure white everywhere else, with a ratio of approximately 80% white to colour. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Bicolour Kitten Female

1 Chandler's FLAMING HEART ALIEN INVASION (OSH f 03 33) FN 4 Jul 15
A well grown gir of very good type. Long wedge with a small pinch, good width at the top, large ears held a little low. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good basic shape though distinctly full, of a really good deep brilliant blue. Long well fed body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Points a good seal patched with shades of pale red, moderately shaded body. Broad area of white to the head with an attractive seal half moustache, white under chin, chest, whole underbody and well up the sides, front legs mostly white and good degree to hind legs, white splash on the back, in all about 35%. Short close coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.
2 Allen's FIROUSI VONTEEZ IFYOUPLEEZ (OLH h 03 21) F 4 Sep 15
An attractive girl of quite good type. Medium length wedge rather broad in the muzzle, good width at the top, well set ears of adequate size. Very shallow depression to the forehead, small bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape and set, olive green in colour. Long firm body, long legs with neatish paws, tail needs an extra fraction. Marked in a dark chocolate with shades of rather dull red, her pattern is spotted though with quite a degree of linkage, and she should be registered as such rather than 'unspecified pattern'. A little white to the face, white to the underbody in a broad strip but with some colour at the edges, narrowing to a very thin strip at mid body, quite a lot of colour on the legs also, so in total I think no more than 20% white. Coat showing promising length and excellent texture, plume also promising for her age, good furnishings to ears and paws. Superb temperament, excellent presentation.

Oriental Spotted Tabby Neuter

BOB Burchell's PR HEMLOCK DEMOLITION DERBY (OSH n 24) MN 21 Feb 15
A lad of very good type. Long even wedge, good width at the top, large well set ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good green colour. Long slender but weighty body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Very well defined pattern in jet black sound to the roots, ground colour showing some warmth though I'd ideally prefer more. My only quibble is with the spine line which is broken, but into quite long segments for most of its length. Short cloe coat of excellent texture. Excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Classic/Mackerel Tabby Neuter

1 (PC N/A) Matheson's WHIZKITZ FIRE AND ICE (OSH os 22) MN 6 Mar 15
An attractive adolescent lad of good type. Medium length wedge with a slight pinch, needing a little more width at the top, large ears set in line. Eyes of good shape if a little full, well set, colour just sufficiently green. Long slender body, long legs with neat paws, balancing length of tail. Pattern colour a slightly dark cinnamon with some warmth to it, despite the effect of silver to make colour colder, the silver extending to about half the hair length, clear silver ground colour. The pattern gives the impression of having slipped both towards the tail and down the sides, so the partly formed butterfly is quite far down the body, and the rings around the oysters are incomplete at both the back and lower sides. The oysters themselves are mostly agouti, with vertical stripes running through them, better formed on the right side. Markings to head and legs good, tail well ringed but not in the typical classic fashion, the rings all being thin. Short close coat of super texture; excellent temperament and presentation.

Oriental Bicolour Neuter

Oriental Longhair Neuter

1 PC BOB Baxter's PIPPASTRO I HAVE CINNED (OLH o 24) MN 2 Jun 15
A well grown lad of very good type, looking mature for his age. String medium length wedge, good width at the top, well set large ears. Straight profile, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of very good shape and set and good green colour. Long weighty body, long string legs with neatish paws, tail needs an extra fraction. His coat is on the short side but not unreasonably so for his age, the texture is excellent, soft and silky, furnishings adequate to ears, good to paws, plume has room to improve. His pattern colour is a good warm cinnamon on a paler ground, well defined spotting to the body, very well broken spine, good marking to the head and legs, some rings to the tail. Excellent temperament and presentation.
Also considered for BOB Blundell's PR HARTRIDGE HOMESPUNSOFA (OLH n 11) MN 11 Oct 13
A lad of good type. Medium length even wedge, good width at the top, well set ears of adequate size. Dip in profile below the brow and bump on the nose, firm chin and level bite. Eyes of good shape if a little full, quite well set and a good green in colour. Medium length firm body, long legs with largish paws, tail needs an extra inch. Pattern colour black, clear silver undercolour to about three quarters of the hair length, but still showing quite a marked surface pattern, rather tarnished to all extremities. Coat of good length and superb texture, good furnishings to ears and paws, quite well furnished plume. Rather shy but handled well, excellent temperament.
